Review of Burien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

This place is terrible. I called to speak to my grandfather. I was greeted by someone who couldn't hardly speak or understand english. I was told "He's not here" and they babbled something about "family member". I was passed to at least three different people who all told me the same thing. When I asked where he was they said that the couldn't tell me because I wasn't on "the list". I came later to find out that the list to which they were referring was the list of the two people with power of attorney. My mother and uncle. They referenced the HIPA act, which disallows anyone to release any medical information to anyone other that those that were previously given permission. This act has absolutely nothing to do with who my grandfather speaks to or who knows where he is. I terminated the call with the nursing center. I then called my mother. She said that she hadn't heard a thing about where he was. She was supposed to be the first one to be called in the event of any change in condition or status. She called this facility and she and I finally found out that he was taken to the hospital in seattle and none of our family was called. This facility also was neglectful in that they were asked to clean my grandfather's dentures. Three days later when asked they said that they still had not done so.

Neglectful and awful. Places like this are why nursing homes get the awful reputation that they have.

If there is any way you could give me a call at 206-242-3213, I want to fully investigate this. Lynda Baldwin, AdministratorIt is difficult to address this concern without more information. I would like to apologize for the difficulty in contacting your grandfather. Each room has a direct line so family members can call direct. Our facility does take every concern and comment seriously and our follow up is swift. Thank you in advance for contacting me. Lynda
