Review of Benbrook Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

This Nursing Center did not provide at the least, adequate care. He was only there 4 days and it ended disastrously. First problem was they accepted an Alzheimer's patient with wander guard only although I was told they separate Alzheimers patients. Next, they put my father in a room with a man that is disabled but fully aware mentally, ie. no Alzheimers. HUGE mistake. Upon my first visit, the attending CNA was clearly annoyed at his level of need and made that fact known to me, although she did not know who I was. He was sad and confused, which is a given. By day 4 he had become agitated and gotten into an altercation and was transported to the County Mental Hospital by police. A week later, I still have not spoken with anyone who was involved, only people who "heard what happened". I have no incident report nor have I spoken with any Administrators, although I have called 3 times. I am still trying to get the list of medications they administered while he was there and they cannot seem to find it. Let me preface this all with he was at an Alzheimers facility for over 6 weeks prior to and had NO issues at all. He was actually the "helper" for his wing. Then a couple of days later you diffuse a volatile situation with a 79 year old man with Alzheimer's by sending him to a County Psyche ward? He sat in the Psyche Holding Area for a week with no direction because he did not fit their criteria as "psychotic". This is my first time having to deal with this and it has been a complete nightmare! I would think when you trust the care of a loved one to a facility that is supposedly trained to handle the elderly, they would treat them with respect and an appropriate level of care. Not only would I NOT recommend this facility, I have recommended that the referral agencies pass on doing so as well!
