Review of Arlington Court Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

5 Star User Review

This is an excellent facility that cares about the patient as well as the family of the patient. My mother started as a patient in the rehab unit in 2006 and later moved to nursing care full time. The staff was so helpful in working with her family too determine her needs as years went by and her health deteriorated and the end of her life approached. The staff was always mindful of her needs which included regular family care conferences with input from Arlington Court Nursing Centers social worker, nursing staff, activities director and HomeReach Hospice team as the end came near. The nursing staff always kept me up to date on conditions that would arise and the care they were giving. We were very fortunate to have Mother this fine facility, I will be forever grateful for the care they provided my mother.

This facility was used for my mother who recently fell and broke some ribs. After some time though, it was not what we were expecting. I incurred some medical costs after her staying at the facility because some how some way she would not wake up and the nurses got worried that she had a stroke. Well when she was taken to the hospital the nurses at Arlington Court (late shift) had not told the hospital that she had broken ribs. So what happened you ask? She was rolled onto both her sides and then as soon as they did this (bless my moms heart for she had to go through this) her lungs filled up with fluid because the hospital had no idea that her ribs were broken. So after her lungs filled up with fluid, I had to pay out of my pocket to have her lungs drained because of Arlington Courts terrible, irresponsible, not caring, nurses. After being released from the hospital with the results of no stroke, no heart attack, just lungs that had filled up at the hospital because of Arlington Courts nurses and staff members she returned and was doing okay. Well, a little later on I wanted to see the records from the hospital to see if they actually knew what had happened at the hospital. Again, another problem arises. Now I have Power of Attorney over my mother, and first they refused to give the records, and I mean I talked to everyone on staff that could help me with this problem. There was no help from any of the staff members, first it was call this person, no call this person, but then they all finally said, no sir, we will not release your records to you even though you have p.o.a. Arlington Courts staff is very unreasonable and very inconsiderate for family members that are paying their bills. Their reply after saying we can't get the records for you sir was "Well sir, if you have a problem with what I am saying, "YOU CAN JUST GET AN ATTORNEY INVOLVED, if you feel this is a problem." Now I know the rules and laws for Ohio and I will tell you this, what they are doing by holding these records back is illegal first, and they are actually implying that they really don't even have the records. After being persistent (which is ridiculous that I have to be this way just to get information that I am entitled to) They finally said you can have the records if you pay 50 dollars. Now this in my mind implies that they don't have the records because when I asked to just see the records (you know to see if they actually have them) they said no sir you can't look at the records. So my recommendation for this facility is, find somewhere else to go for your loved one. This place is awful, and would not recommend this place if my life depended on it. There are many other facility's in the Columbus area. Don't put you or your loved one through Hell like I have been through.

I had my grandmother in this facility and I have to say that this place was close to one of the worst places we have ever taken my grandmother. Dad and I decided to bring her to facility because they offered physical rehab and the last place that she was residing at didn't. There was one day that my dad and I went down to go have a care conference, and after we went to go see grandma. Now she has had her share of problems in the past, but something happened to her completely unexpected. Like I was saying, we went to go see her after the care conference and she was crying and shaking. Now she has never acted like this before. We couldn't get her to look up and she wasn't making any sense, almost like she was hallucinating. The next day I went down to go see her again, and it was a completely different grandma, she was sitting up right in her chair with good eye contact and was able to carry on a conversation. Seeing this completely different grandma only a day after seeing her simply gets my dad and I suspicious. We are suspicious of someone slipping her a drug or some drugs to cause this, and they couldn't have done it at a better time, because she was getting re-evaluated to go back to original facility. So someone on the inside was doing something illegal and slipped her some drug or drugs. I say this with confidence because she for one has never acted to the point of where she doesn't even understand where she is or has bad eye contact, and a day after going to go see her, she was acting fine and completely normal. I would not recommend this facility at all! Terrible people with terrible attitudes especially the social worker.
