Review of Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare

2 Star User Review

My aunt & uncle were transferred to BoroPark when Cabrini closed. He is physically debilitated she suffers from dementia. Although their room is larger and brighter as is the day room I find the staff is inattentive and many, including skilled nursing and social workers have serious language difficulties - accents so thick that I, born and educated in NYC, have a very difficult time, especially over the phone, understanding what they are saying. BoroPark's phone system is a horror - one seldom gets a live person on the main line. The prompts are not clear and when finally connected to the nursing station the phone can ring up to 20 times before it either disconnects or is answered by a person who 80% of the time asks me to call back later to speak with a nurse. The social worker, who refused to give me her email, does not change her voice mail announcement when she is out on vacation or out ill. I have left multiple messages that were never returned.

exactly my experience!!!!!!!!!

In addition not only is the food poor but usually served cold (macaroni and cheese a congealed clump). It is disheartening to see at the nursing desk two lines of patients facing each other with a tv on one wall, thus visible to only one line of wheelchairs. Most of the patients show no interest in the tv. Some have nodded off, one covers his entire head with a sheet, few engage in any conversation. It is obvious that this "activity's only purpose is to allow one attendant to supervise 5-10 patients and thus alleviate the need for additional help.

I have my children's sworn promise if i am ever in need of a rehab it will not be here.
