This one star reviews the food and cleanliness of the facility. My mother was a patient over a year ago and my father just recently. In the year in between the kitchen staff and the quality of the food has really deteriorated. One evening my father was served the wrong order. He is diabetic, so the food they sent was unacceptable (apple sauce, a sausage gumbo and cranberry juice.) I wondered why the nurse asked me to call the kitchen to complain - it was because the kitchen staff told me in no uncertain terms that "he will have to eat what we send up." I argued about the fact that he was diabetic for five minutes before they agreed to send up something else. They said they ran out of food and so the only thing left was a turkey sandwhich from lunch. Yuck! In the entire month+ that he was there I think they got his order correct maybe twice. Plus, the quality of the food was so poor. Some nights I was so glad that I had brought him home-cooked meals because he wouldn't have been able to eat what they served.
Onto the bathroom and general condition of the room. After repeatedly complaining that there was actually dried urine and feces on his bathroom floor, walls and toilet (including the commode chair) I finally - after a month - got the bathroom to wear I could even feel comfortable walking in it in my own shoes. I even took pictures one night and threatened housekeeping with calling the state. One Sunday I was told that there was no housekeeping available on Sundays! Can you imagine! Not scheduling housekeeping in a medical facility? I changed his bedding myself because there were always stains on his blankets (and very often no clean linen to be found.) I also don't believe his room was swept or cleaned during his entire stay. There was so much dirt on the bottom of the tray (I cleaned the top of the tray every night) and sometimes garbage would stay on his floor for days. The flowers they give you when you first enter the facility rotted in the vase. I know no one was in there cleaning his room.
