I almost died in this place following total knee replacement. Dirty with little rehab I was left to fend for myself. When I would need to toilet, I required assistance in getting back to the bed. They would let me sit on the toilet for HOURS without responding. My legs would grow numb. I would sit there crying and calling out, pleading for someone to PLEASE come and help me to get back to my bed. No one came until I got wise and started taking my cell phone with me into the toilet. I would have to call the front desk and request them to send an aide to help me back into my bed. Sometimes they came. Sometimes they didn't. When they didn't, I would be forced to call 911 and when the police contacted the front desk, THEN they would come and assist me back into bed. This facility is filthy with horrible stench of urine and human body waste. At night, you hear patient crying and moaning from the pain of being left to languish in their wet and soiled diapers which have caused bedsores and skin breakdown. These sounds were with patients crying out to die rather than to wake up one more day in "this place from hell". The aides are NOT nice to patients, acting as though they are doing you a favor when they offer your any aid, instead of considering it their job to help you recover and restore you to health and vitality. It was a couple of years since I have been there and I am STILL plagued my nightmares of my time spend there. If you love your family member, do NOT send them to Hartwyck at Edison Estates. You just may not get them back. I was one of the lucky ones. I "escaped" with infections which were treated after my family took me out of there and continued my rehab on an outpatient basis at home.
