Great place, fantastic staff.

The care by the aides and nurses was excellent. The administration is more concerned with the money. My husband was asked to leave because I was not able to keep my payments current. I believe the fact that he had the diagnosis of dimentia conributed. He was not a flight risk but they wanted him on the locked ward. He did not need to be there. They called the Fairview Manor in Fairmont and asked them if they wanted him, without my knowledge, and sent his records there. I did look into the Fairview and we transferred him there. He is very happy now. They are an EXCELLENT care home and he is NOT locked up. I wish they had kicked him out sooner!

February 15, 2011 our Mother passed away. She had lived at the Hearthstone for 3 1/2 years and considered it her home. She didn't go willingly, she didn't want to leave her home but her health & safety determined a change. Once she was there, she grew to love the kind and caring staff. We don't recall one time of her complaining about staff or the food. She loved all of the activities and rarely missed out on anything.

It was such a blessing to us to know that she was safe and cared for by people who knew and loved her.

When we knew her time was short, her greatest comfort, when put into Hospice was that she could be in her room at the Hearthstone.

The wonderful cooperation between the Hearthstone and the Hospice staff made our last few days with her a time when we could concentrate on her. They took good care of both Mom and us during that time.

The York area is so lucky to have such a wonderful facility. We have never regretted our decision.
