Some of the staff is very caring. They do, however, have some senior nursing staff members who are prone to temper tantrums, screaming and other highly inappropriate behavior. It is clear that this facility has general staffing problems as the lower level staff members also seem to be completely over worked and there have been some inappropriate outbursts from them as well. This facility has problems with theft and misappropriation. They gave a clearly marked TV to another patient while our family member was hospitalized. A lot of his personal items disappeared as well. We were told that they would be secured and not too worry. That was not the case. This facilty seems to be inclined to keep patients that should be hospitalized on site for treatment. They make more money that way. This is not a facility for a patient with memory issues especially if the person is incapable or less inclined to speak. Our family member sustained an unexplained gash on one knee. Attention to personal hygiene was lacking; filthy teeth, fingernails and so on. Also, there was a lack of hand sanitizer and hand soap in the bathrooms. We asked repeatedly for these items to no avail. There is also inappropriate disposal of medical waste. Exam gloves were left on our family members bed. What appeared to be catheter tubing was left in the wastepaper basket. It was not used on our family member. Disgusting and inexcusable. This is a facility that is in dire need of updating. After dinner, residents are jammed into the lounge by the entrance. There is not enough room and it appears to be an uncomfortable arrangement at best. Memory patients are often put to bed for the night prior to dinner. They eat dinner in bed and stay there until the next morning. Also inappropriate; this for the convenience of the staff. Generally, this facility needs a complete makeover and change in attitude from the top down. I would never place another person here based on our experience.
