Review of Signature Healthcare of Buckhead

1 Star User Review

While there is a "Medical Director" and "Staff Doctor," patients are not physically seen; their charts are, or nurses call and give a telephone diagnoses and get standard and rote prescriptions. Government MUST find a way to inspect these places; patients lie and sit in filth. Nurses "pass meds" with NO regard for what they're passing. Patient says, "I'm hurting." Nurse says, "I'll bring you a pain pill," rather than finding out WHY they're hurting. Showers consist of running water over exposed areas; armpit of one patient (with paralyzed arm) rotting before family member found and asked for nurse to view. Nurse (without LOOKING), said, "It's fungus; I'll get an order from the doctor." PT is charged when not done. CNAs are poorly trained and overworked, which leads to 2 hour or more wait times for any help. People come out of the woodwork at mealtime, take 45 minutes to get everyone served, yet disappear afterwards. Plates pulled whether one is finished or not, so they can clean up. NO HELP AVAILABLE for anything without complaints, begging, demanding. Physical Therapy floor seems to have more help, but Long-Term Care patients on top floor are in the most need and get least assistance. People lie in bed moaning with no attention; no response to call light (IF they can reach it!).

We would welcome an open dialogue about the issues and concerns you may have. It sounds like you are concerned with physician visits, medications, listening to patients, and staffing.

Physicians: We have a medical director and several staff physicians on call. Physicians see patients at least monthly in the long-term setting. We also have nurse practitioners who are in-house full time to care for our patients and report any concerns to our on-call physicians.

Medications: All nurses are trained in medication delivery and communication. Your comments will help us with our performance improvement and quality assurance processes.

Listening Skills: We understand the importance of listening and provide opportunities for continuing education inservices on various types of communications and communication skills.

Staffing: Our team here provides staffing according to state guidelines and we often exceed the state requirements. Our staffing numbers are posted daily in the elevators for public viewing.

While your personal experiences may not reflect our overall customer satisfaction scores, we welcome opportunities for working together to develop patient-centered plans of care for loved ones. Many persons have complimented us on our care and concern for patients and their families. We do have staff that is accessible 24 hours a day to listen to your concerns and expectations and work toward resolutions.

Sincerely,

The Management Team at Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead
