Review of Mission Hills Health Care, Inc

I wish I had known about Mission Hills Health Care Center before moving our loved one there. I found after the fact, that this home was and probably still is on the Nations Worst Watch list!

I had a family member there for a short period of time. It was horrible to witness how the patients were treated. One day I watched a man sitting up on a bed with wheels, getting pulled by his leg down the hall instead of by the bed. I witnessed prescriptions mishandled and clothes stolen! At the time we were there, people were dressed in clothes that were not their sizes. We had to replanish our loved ones' clothing because they did not give everything back after their washing. The food was complained about many times. One day I just had to see what they were talking about by coming in during one of their meals. It was a 50 cent lunch. Chopped hotdog and some sort of mush. People were complaining even over a sandwich on how bad it was. Another two times that I was there, the front desk girl was rude to two patients right in front of my eyes. Police came another time and were lied to stating that the person was crazy and did not know what they were talking about.

Please note: The people there can not complain. If they do, they get drugged up or taken to the Psych hospital for evaluation and then the Psych Doctor returns them instead of keeping them for the 48 to 72 hour hold. The reason why they come back within the hour is because there was nothing wrong with their minds in the first place. This happened also in front of my eyes.

I urge anyone who has a dear one in the home to get them out. Start visiting your loved one everyday or more often than you already are and you will definitely start noticing what is REALLY going on. I had to save our loved one 3 times. the last was finally the final straw. The reason why I could not move our loved one sooner than 5 months was because our loved one was afraid of getting into a worse home.

I actually went to the Court House downtown and found many lawsuits against the home and staff. Please get your loved ones out! I wish I could have taken everyone out of there at the time we left with our loved one. It was the saddest day of my life to leave them there! These people have no one visiting them as our loved one did and these people starve for your company when you walk in. Do your homework!!! If there was a no star, this is what I would give.

I would urge whomever reads this article to please come and see the facility and the employees for yourself. We get compliments daily on how friendly and welcoming our staff is, and have retained many satisfied residents and family members throughout many years of residence. Please come and visit, and talk with our actual residents and their family members, and you will get a very different impression of what was portrayed in the article.

Regarding the food: I eat the same meals prepared for the residents daily, completely by choice, so I can personally attest that the food is actually very tasty. If on one day it needs a little improvement, I simply let the dietary supervisor know that the meal needs some improvement, and changes are made. If you don't believe me, come to Mission Hills Health Care around lunch time and ask for the assistant administrator. I promise, you'll find me chomping down on the Mission Hills Health Care lunchtime menu!

Regarding the care: I've trusted both of my grandmothers, my cousin, my great aunt, my mother's cousin, and my father's cousin with the staff at Mission Hills Health Care, and would trust myself in their hands. Many of our other staff members have trusted their husbands and wives, their grandparents, and other family members with the care provided at Mission Hills Health Care as well. We work there, we know exactly what goes on there, and we willingly choose Mission Hills Health Care as the nursing facility to care for our own family members.

Regarding the "rude" front desk girl: the person who has works at the front desk, and has for awhile, is actually a man, which leads me to believe that perhaps this person is confused regarding the facility they are speaking about?

Furthermore, I am not sure what the nation's worst watch list is, but Mission Hills Health Care has never been on it.

Again, I urge whoever reads this review and reply, to come and visit and make your own opinion about the staff and care at Mission Hills Health Care. Come at lunch time, and we can share a meal! :-)

I am an employee of Mission Hills Health Care and I know who wrote this. All of these accusations are untrue. Mission Hills Health Care is a very caring a loving place. The problem is that if someone get's fired for any of the above charges they can come back and write a horrible lie to make them feel better for being fired. I have worked at this place for over 5 years and have never seen anything like this occur. EVER and I don't know of any law suits either. We care for our patients as if they are our family. Many of the people who work here have worked for over 10 years which means there is a good group of people. As a place to put my family, I have my friend's aunt here and she is very happy. She came from another home and could not walk, and did not really talk, now she is walking and she is very happy. Do not listen to the girl who wrote the sad story about all of this. Why would they publish that because it is all made up. I would give Mission Hills Health Care a 5 for care, I eat the food, it is good. And everyone who works here seems happy and likes taking care of people, except for the girl who got fired.
