Review of La Jolla Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

I transferred my mother there from another facility in a different state. I was disappointed from the start. I was promised to be included in the "plan for care". I asked 3 times then was told, "sorry, we did'nt call you?" She was there over 30 days and I never was able to speak with her doctor (who is a staff member there). It was a total nightmare trying to get them to share in the goal of getting her off a feeding tube and they failed to remove it the day of discharge (they tried to tell me to have it done once she was released but luckily I found out it was their responsibility to do it prior to discharge (they dropped the ball!!). My mother was not mobile which made it all twice as hard. They tried to get her to walk but she screamed in pain about her leg. I was told there was nothing wrong, that it was anxiety, only later to learn there was a problem with her knee. They never checked even after being requested to. They said they would help with medi-cal application and did nothing. My last call to them never even got returned. There were other issues as well but not enough room to write. I will never use or refer this facility.
