  • Delmar Gardens South Saint Louis, Missouri 63128

To the point: As a facility for someone that needs little assistance to care for themselves or can seek help for assistance I would highly recommend. If person is in need for full care and unable to speak up on their own behalf then I would not recommend. Most of caregivers or loving and very good, have seen large turnover of staff in 2 years. In that time and getting to know staff and family members of other residents it has been apparent that they are understaffed for the proper care of residents that are in need of full care. It is highly recommended that you and family members visit often to make sure your loved one is getting the care they need if they are totally dependent on someone.

Terrible. Staff is incompetent and irresponsible. Causes harm, abusive, and will not care for loved one. Will consistently ignore resident. No compassion or kindness. Care was not given equally, for every resident. After my grandpa fell, they put him to bed--It was not until a family member requested it, that he was sent to the hospital.

  • Bethesda Dilworth Saint Louis, Missouri 63122

I had my mother in the Charless, which is a division of the Bethesda and what I looked up they went out of business. While my mother was in the Charless/Bethesda division their employees witnessed a radical power of attorney with neither myself or my sister present. The attorney they recommended also did a radical change to my trust, who was my sister's attorney and again no family's member was present. I found out about the amendment which their attorney whom they recommended was also my sister's attorney and the amendment he did drastically changed the flow of my mother's trust to favor my sister.

The employees who acted as witness's were the social worker and the the one who distributes the medication the CMT. My mother had fallen a few days prior and was taking Vicotin which was administered by the witness. At the age of 92 suffering from cognitive impairment, etc. I could never recommend them.

  • Sunset Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center Saint Louis, Missouri 63128

High turnover in the spring of 2015 has affected continuity of care. Residents are not bathed at the frequency prescribed in resident care plans. The resident I represent reported being called "stinky" by a staff member after not being bathed. Verbal abuse may be common in most facilities and this is pretty mild. Facility records mark the schedule of showers rather that document when they really occur. Residents who cannot brush their own teeth or remove their own dentures are not assisted in these activities. I have heard this is also common. Two police reports for the spring of 2015 filed with Sunset Hills Police Department on behalf of the resident I represent. One for felony stealing of her cell phone. Theft may be common in most facilities however, the facility has not conceded to reparations at this time. Call buttons may not be answered when staffing is short and staffing is almost short as a rule rather than an exception. I witnessed a two hour delay in changing a residents diaper after staff was notified. It may have been longer but, I had to leave and had already contacted the elder abuse hotline. A state representative reported 11 complaints were logged about this facility on my behalf. The food is often palatable when it is made. However, this is frequently hours before it is served to residents. There is much more however, it is not all bad. There are staff that care very much about the residents and do all they can to make their lives better. They push themselves to the limit every day under terrible circumstances. They are quiet heroes fighting battles that go unnoticed.

This nursing home was in my opinion the worst facility I have been in! My mother was admitted there and the room was not even ready for her and she was on oxygen. They gave her a fitted sheet as her blanket. There was one nurse in particular that was very rude and uncaring. There was no one to greet me when I arrived to tell me what room my mother was in and her name was never put on the door for the week she stayed. There were workers right there in the dining area and none of them even acknowledged me standing there..no one made any eye contact. I took my mother out of there as soon as I could get funds together for an ambulance to move her. My mother sat in wet depends for hours and she had bed sores as well. My mother is in hospice but that does not mean you put her in a room and forget about her. My mother was crying and begging me to get her out of there. It was the worse decision I ever made. The facility is going thru renovations and it was quite crazy when I walked down the hall into the renovated area..the air was on, there were workers all over and a receptionist available…it was as different as night and day. My mom was brought in on a thursday evening and friday was good friday..those two days I did not see any housekeeping, and barely any CNA'S but on saturday it was very busy I saw a man buffering the floor, housekeeping going up and down the hallways and the nurses were friendlier..it was all a total front in my opinion. My family came up from Florida and my grandmother is 91 years old..there was only one chair in the room and the room had another patient in there so it was very limited on space…no one offered another chair or even acknowledged them in the room. It was awful. I give this place a huge negative 5 out of 5 stars.

  • St Johns Place Saint Louis, Missouri 63114

DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!!!! BEWARE!!!! The staff and OWNER do not care about your loved ones here. My mom was in here for one week and we had to pull her out due to very poor care. The Staff are rough with them, rude to them and generally unfriendly. She felt threatened and scared there. Read other reviews and you will find that this is not a good place. BEWARE!!!!

  • Green Park Senior Living Community Saint Louis, Missouri 63123

The care in the rehab center was very substandard. Resident left here with bed sores, nurses were slow to respond and did not fully understand the scope of care needed by the resident. The house Dr. did not take patient concerns seriously resulting in several additional hospital admissions. Medications were not readily available. Therapy was disjointed at best. Scheduling was a nightmare. I would not recommend this facility for anyone that has more than one health issue as they are not equipped to accommodate needs. It is my feeling that resident's admission was driven by the almighty dollar. It is a shame when companies are willing to sacrifice resident well-being only to fill a bed or make a buck.

  • Royal Oak Nursing & Rehab Saint Louis, Missouri 63108

Recently under new management, but same employees. They're not reliable or dependable. What appears to be genuine; is not. Lack compassion and care. Facility is old, outdated; as well as equipment and rooms. Be aware and alert of any personal items. Lack trust, accountability, and professionalism.

New management again at the facility and it is not a good fit. Ive talked to the new Administrator on several occasions and It has not gone well. My mom has been here for a year and the nursing concerns have increased lately. I;m worried that I may have to find her another home as she has had several falls with no one notifying me as what is going on. When I requested a meeting with the DON I was told she was fired. When I call there is usually no one to answer the phone. What type of place are they running there?

  • Quarters at Des Peres, The Saint Louis, Missouri 63131

From the very first night, I was treated like a peace of meat. The Aide who was supposed to provide the majority of my care taught me nothing and helped me as little as possible and all with an attitude. She did, however, complain about my noncompliance to the ways I was supposed to be moving to best protect my back. I nicknamed her Ratchet and stand by that name!

The food was barely edible and the instant scrambled eggs were awful. There were about two meals out of 31 that I enjoyed. That's in days, too.

My aide assisted me in showering in that period twice and never assisted me in dressing or getting to meals or therapy. Upper management and doctors treated the whole situation with more drugs and very little effort to make the situation better. They felt my assessment was wrong as most people praised that aide?

  • Quarters at Des Peres, The Saint Louis, Missouri 63131

My father was in this facility. I did check this facility out, and then found only a couple of good reviews, hence my reason for placing my father there for rehab. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. Initially, they provided my father with minimal rehab. HE is actually worse today after leaving the facility. The head nurse practitioner was the most miserable and disagreeable human being that I have ever encountered. She was unkind and uncaring. IF you dare to disagree with any care she shuns you, will not smile at you, will not acknowledge you nor my father, will glare at you. BEWARE!

Also, the head Nurse, challenged me on their justification of drugging my father at night. She glared at me and said this is the way it's going down.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. BEWARE!!!

Oh, and my father said no one would bring him a urinal, and then when he couldn't wait any longer he said then came the scrub down and they were rough on his genitals…and the fingernails would dig in when they rolled him. Also when they fed him, he was leaning back so far that he was choking and spitting out food and begging for water. I told the aide that I would take over and thankfully saved my father.

  • St Johns Place Saint Louis, Missouri 63114

DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVE ONE IN THIS FACILITY. BEWARE. Upon first meeting the Administrator, he made the facility seem so caring and family oriented. It's the complete opposite. My relative was in St. John's Place a few months before I got feed up and reported them to the State. They kept promising he would see the podiatrist, but never did. He toenails got to an unhealthy length. The toilet in his room was full of feces for three days straight and was non functioning the following week. Being visually impaired, the staff would sit his meals on his table without telling him what he was eating or assisting with eating. There was a bandage put on his shin for an injury that I was never notified about with a date of 9/20, when I saw him on 9/26, the bandage had not been changed (I took photos and sent to the State). I would notified the Administrator regarding each of these events, however, he had such a cavalier attitude and nothing was urgent. The staff is unprofessional and lacks compassion. The charge nurse hung up the phone on me on two separate occasions. My relative advised that the staff was stealing his candy. The nurses station was never manned with staff. Calls light were constantly on. Charge nurses could not answer routine question from families or troubleshoot any situation and would ALWAYS refuse to contact the D.O.N. or Administrator after hours. The D.O.N. was so unpleasant. No staff member ever greeted me when I came in. On the night shift, you can usually find about half the nurses on the patio smoking and socializing. The website claims to take the residents on outings and having so many activities. I have never witnessed an activities or been notified on an outing. Don't put your love one in this facility or their sister property, The Bentley.

  • Alexian Brothers Lansdowne Village Saint Louis, Missouri 63116

This facility and others like it should be SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! The staff is non-caring and non-attentive to the needs of the residents.

The staff is incompetent, communication is a joke, the well-being of residents is of no concern and the majority of them (staff) are equipped with attitudes. My observations of the food (lunch and dinner) was distasteful to say the least. Stray animals can find a better meal in the wilderness than on the food trays of the residents. One staff member told me that she doesn't eat that food. This was after I asked about one of the items on the menu(what was it and how did it taste?) Why are residents being fed food that is unappealing, questionable and that no staff member would want to eat? Hmmmmmmmmmm! The so-called nursing staff can't seem to get the resident's medication right (THIS IS SOMETHING CRITICAL). The so-called physician remedy for a resident experiencing seriously ill symptoms is to let them die, because their health is deteriorating, do not resuscitate. This is his expert opinion after spending 5 minutes with a resident. I am not exaggerating! (YES! THIS IS WHAT THE PHYSCIAN TOLD US, CLOSE FAMILY MEMBERS). While visiting with my love one, I noticed one patient being left in a chair in the hallway for more than 8 hours. I arrived early morning and didn't leave until around 7pm. The quality of care given at this facility is below sub-human. My heart aches for those residents, they are forced into an environment where there is no human compassion. I pray the State of Missouri conduct a thorough investigation. The really sad thing about Alexian Brothers Landsdowne Nursing Home is that it is suppose to be a FAITH based institution. I didn't see, feel or hear the love GOD in that place.

  • Oak Knoll Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Saint Louis, Missouri 63135

Horrible!!! They have this clean front and service that is ok- so so for the most abled residents. These are the ones you see; They are downstairs and get to go to dining room. But the ones that really need the most help are upstairs. Its bed to chair for them, propped in front of TV all day. The aides often do not even speak English and even if they did they don't provide conversation. Some of these are so far gone maybe it doesn't matter? But my dad was in here. so so lonely so neglected, so starved for a sentence exchange as he couldn't get around or make himself easily heard..

He didn't even get taken to the "activities". It was n't convenient.. not enough aides and there no one enriching the upstairs residents..

they do the minimum to keep the bed sores down not one bit more..

  • Sunset Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center Saint Louis, Missouri 63128

I am so sad my father-in-law is spending his last days in such a place. He was in the hospital for 2 wks prior to entering this facility and had absolutely NO skin tears. Within the same period of time at the home, his arms are nothing but tears and bruises. He even has a skin tear on his head but NO ONE KNOWS how this happened. I can tell you… they are extremely rough when turning patients and his head has hit the side rails when I have been in the room. They just dont care. Hurry up and get it done. My heart breaks as I watch my mother-in-law WATCH her husband of 59 yrs endure this care.

I called recently to speak with the nurse caring for dad. First I was put on hold for over 5 minutes (yes we watched the clock) I then hung up and called back… it rang for several minutes. I then called again..this time I was told the nurse was at dinner and she would be back in a few minutes. I asked to speak with the another nurse on the floor. To my surprise (not!), there wasn't another nurse (on the skilled nursing floor-only aides) After 50 minutes of this mess, she called back and was immediately on the defense. If my father in law is on the SKILLED nursing wing then wouldnt you think a skilled nurse should be there at all times. Skilled must mean more than leaving these patients with just aides.

I have been there for hours and never has an aide or nurse come into the room unless we call and then they take their time. BUT if I go out looking for someone they are all sitting at the desk. Lights ringing like crazy. Does no one care???

Please be aware of what medicare your mom and dad have. Mom didnt understand medicare A&B was much MUCH better than medicare complete. And complete is much cheaper and they have to watch their money. But here we are with a very ill family member and we find out the nursing home we wanted (and I have worked at-RN) was not on their list as they do not take medicare complete. So we were given a list of homes. I wish we could take him home but right now that isnt an option. Maybe as hospice but not right now. Mom does not leave his side during the day and can not bear to leave at night. PLEASE PLEASE…. if you are looking for a place for someone you love very much do not put them here unless you are going to stay 24/7 to care for them.

  • Quarters at Des Peres, The Saint Louis, Missouri 63131

Looks are deceiving “The Quarters at Des Peres” is bright and pretty and the food is good but I would advise any one with serious medical conditions to choose a different rehab facility. It’s hard to find first hand information about patient experience at any physical rehab or nursing home facility—why is this? More people should write reviews that could relieve suffering and potentially save lives. I hope this is what my THUMBS DOWN review of the Quarter in Des Peres will do. My father went to the quarters from Barnes Hospital with some pretty serious medical problems, which we were told they could handle. They couldn’t, and the nurses and assistants seemed to resent the level of care my dad needed and made him pay the price in bad attitude and dehumanizing treatment. After a good first week my dad started sliding due to an undiagnosed infection from the surgery which the nursing staff responded to by giving Tylenol for his fever symptoms. Over the next 2 weeks he gradually became severally dehydrated resulting in dementia like symptoms and plummeting cognitive functioning. This condition also went undiagnosed as simply dehydration and for almost a week he was given daily cognitive tests, which he failed, because his brain was starving for water and glucose. Not a large man to begin with, my father lost a total of 18 lbs. in the 3.5 weeks he was under the “care” of the Quarters. My dad’s “spirit” also became starved at The Quarters largely due to the gruff and inhuman treatment from drone like CNA’s and nurses ½ of which where headsets to dictate their treatment notes—they are so preoccupied with dictating into their headsets they do not stop to make eye contact or ask the patient how they are doing. Finally we took my dad to the ER, the admitting ER doctor took one look at him and said, “he’s dehydrated--dry as a bone!” After 5 days in the hospital with IV fluids and antibiotics he began recovering his mind, body and spirit. We then chose a different physical rehab facility, Barnes Extended Care—the level of medical care was night and day as well as the level of empathy and attention by the nurses and assistants. Most families go into these situations blind and they don’t know how to choose or how to compare. Now that I have had these 2 experiences in 2 different facilities I see there is a VAST difference in medical care and outcomes. These newer corporate facilities such as “The Quarters” that are in the business of grabbing Medicare $ attract patients by the “look and feel” of the place on first glance by hopeful family members. What I can say is that Barnes Extended Care is worn, the patient rooms are small, and the food just so-so but it is medically totally superior and the personality of the place is compassionate. Don’t be deceived by looks! And don’t be afraid to yank your loved one from a facility if you don’t see them thriving. And don’t be afraid to write reviews about what you experience to help others!
