Review of Villa at Bradley Estates (The)

I would never bring a family member here, even if they were homeless. In one incident a resident who had lung cancer and dementia contracted pneumonia. After talking with the unit nurse it was learned that the only reason why this person went to the hospital was because his wife called 911. Apparently she went to the nurses days before with concerns about changes in his condition. In many places things were neglected by the LPN's and RN's who were supposed to be doing rounds on him after this significant change was made aware, but they did not. The unit nurse looked at me and said this man could have died because of us. If you get the general feel that no one cares, that is because majority of them don't. They are so overworked and underpaid and constantly yelled at by administration and family with limited resources to do their job, that most of them are spent. I've seen CNA wear resident's clothing and shoes. In another incident I came upon a misdiagnosis of a patient. This patient was primarily diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease however he had no prior diagnosis from a NP or MD, the group home manager insisted that I ask about this primary diagnosis on admission. Claiming it should have been diagnosed as a TBI. After investigating this for them it was found out that this was diagnosed because of his medical insurance, T-19, which pays more for individuals with a Parkinson's Disease diagnosis rather than a TBI. That was my last straw, I had to leave.
