The Highlands of Rochester gave my aunt wonderful care while at rehab. All the employees were very nice, thoughtful and caring. Her stay there was pleasant and comfortable. Each and every one of the employees treated her with kindness respect and caring. She advanced quickly with her physical therapy. She was there two weeks. The staff was really nice all the way around and the food was good.

Brighton manor was very helpful and always friendly towards my family and myself. The nurse managers and staffing woman were very accommodating and knowledgeable when admitting my family member. They seem to truly care about their patients and truly enjoy their job. I would fully recommend this facility to the community.

As you go anywhere, there are good and bad staff. The building is cared for. Its kept clean and neat. The front desk personal has always been cheerful and respectful. The staff that work with my father could do better overall. There are a few staff members that stand out in a positive way. Again, they are cheerful and seem to enjoy their position. Some staff just need to leave the "people" business. Rude and uneducated about the elderly. I really don't see the place being called home…its cold and bare for the most part. I know that there are reasons behind no carpets although it would be great to have nice pictures on the wall with current people being cared for and maybe on going recreational activities such as putting a puzzle together. Most people just sit there in front of the tv. The smell, I get it, its a hospital setting but buy air fresheners. The cost is high but all nursing homes are high. I go to see him as often as I can and I usually find things that shouldn't be such as chairs in front of doorways. Dad has been to a couple of different nursing homes in the area and this seems to be the best but I still a lot of room for improvement.

I thought I had seen bad nursing homes in the past, but nothing as bas as this one. Nurses and aides have an attitude and don't seem to understand dementia at all!! There is NO compassion at Shore Winds that I have seen at all. For $9,000 a month I don't understand the lack of compassion, staff or training here.

Absolutely a horrible place. the staff does not care about the patient at all. When the other employees tell u not to listen to the nursing staff because they will lie to u. U know ur in trouble. We had a family member who was in his 30 for reharb. who was up there for 3 months and only had one week of therapy and was sent home

It was the worst place my mother was placed for rehab. On the first day they had her standing when she was non weight bearing and because of this she had to have a second surgery. Also they would make her wait 5 hours to be toileted. I would never recommend this facility!

My Parent with dementia was a resident for 10 months. With a few exceptions the staff is generally unmotivated, kept to minimum levels and lacks supervision. Typical symptoms of dementia were treated as behavior problems, one incident resulting in a midnight trip to the hospital for mental evaluation which baffled the ER staff.

Constant turnover of staff resulted in horribly inconsistent care. Requests for meetings with management were routinely ignored. Toilets were constantly clogged and took up to 48 hours to fix.

I had to place my father in a nursing home and I toured many. By fare, this nursing home is much cleaner, cheerful, respectful and understanding. This was the first place that I was greeted with a smile and all the staff said "hello". I know that is a little thing but it goes a long way after the privious placement for dad and my other tours. They contact me on a regular basis and dad is making friends. He seems happy and that is what I was looking for.

Experience was less than satisfactory.. and not only would not come there again.. would and have told others not to go there!

Many of the staff were fine people.. however, most seemed less than professional. Lots of kidding around, not attending to patients in professional manner.. was told to hurry up and get out of the bathroom.. because 'I have other patients to take care of'.. told to a 90 year old person.. frustrated that she had to be there in the first place!

Food was very unappealing. Did no expect a 5 star review.. but one star would have been appreciated. Tasteless.. and presentation was horrible. Many lunches and dinners consisted of sandwiches on 'spongie' white bread which is not a very healthy bread! All in all .. it was not a good experience. the PT staff was fine.. and the nursing staff for the most part were good.. But other than that.. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It seems as if there is new management and or ownership from when we used the facility last year.. What a difference a year makes!!!

My husband was placed here from Unity Hospital. He suffered from Alzheimers. This place is worse than can be immagined. I would often find him with two diapers and his clothes would still be soaked with urine. The whole place smells - bring a gas mask when visiting. Only good thing I can say is - I fulfiled my promise to him. He died at home - NOT at this hell hole!

My Dad was given anti psychotic drugs he shouldn't have been given. He was so out of it he couldn't feed himself and lost over 17 pounds in 17 days. He ended up in the hospital with a fungus in his mouth, malnutrition, dehydration and his system ruined from the drugs. He passed away not long after! My Mother's catheter was not removed after 11 days. She went septic and she passed away!

This was a horrid dump that Unity Hospital placed my father in after his hosptial stay. Every "staff" member was on their phones the entire time, paying NO attention to the residents. We would go visit my dad and his bedroom floor would be covered in spilled urine, and he would be sleeping in his wheelchair, never being put into a bed to reduce the risk of bedsores. It was insanely ghetto, once i took my young child their to visit my father and had to sit next to "staff" in the cafeteria and had to listen to her story about how she got CPS called on her for leaving her kids home alone while she went to Taco Bell. She wasn't even talking to me, but that is how loud and inconsiderate the "staff" is there. It is beyond pitiful, unprofessional and filthy. Once i went there and my father was in his room, in his wheel chair, trying to watch his tv and two aides were lounging in his bed having a full blown, inappropriate conversasion with each other, loud as can be, inches from my dad. The inconsideration and the complete disregard for human care was sickening. DO NOT EVER LET YOUR LOVED ONES BE SENT TO THIS INSTITUTION. They would be better off ANYWHERE else.
