The care my daddy received while getting short term rehab after he fell and broke his hip was remarkable. I've always been a daddy's girl so it was an extremely hard decision to put my dad in a skilled nursing facility. I don't regret that decision now at all. He came home just a few weeks after being admitted. He was stronger coming home than before his fall. The nursing staff were very attentive to him and he loved each of his therapist. The facility was very encouraging to us and allowed us to participate in his rehab so that we could continue safe moves for him at home. As the end of his stay came near the physical therapist and occupational therapist came to the house for a home visit. While there they watched him get in and out of the bed, transfer to the toilet as well and ambulate through out the home. They made several recommendations as to move some furniture put some stronger grab bars and such up in the bathroom so that he could be equipped to be safe and independent at home.
