  • Cadia Rehabilitation Pike Creek Wilmington, Delaware 19808

There needs to be an option of no stars. As a patient, I was more than angry at everything about CADIA HEALTHCARE PIKE CREEK: no attention to DIETARY NEEDS due to health issues; requesting a nurse or aide and being COMPLETELY IGNORED for as much as 3 hours or indefinitely; room and attached bathroom facilities not receiving SANITARY ATTENTION even when a bed pan of urine was knocked to the floor by an aide and ran into my adjoining room. CALL BUTTON was repeatedly ignored as was the yelling PLEADING of patients who were either in pain or had other physical needs. I tried to stay positive when relating to nurses and aides in the weeks I spent at Cadia, I am so thankful I worked with two wonderful therapists - physical and occupational.

  • Kentmere Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Wilmington, Delaware 19806

On April 13, 2018, I filled out Kentmere Nursing Care Center's online admissions form for my mother, who was suddenly being discharged from another facility where she was being treated. I didn’t hear back “promptly” as is stated on the site, so I called Kentmere’s main number for a follow-up. I told the woman who answered the phone that I had filled out the admissions form online. She asked “What form?” I explained to her, Kentmere’s website has a form online for admissions. She did not know what I was talking about. I asked if I could speak with someone in admissions. She put me on hold and said “Chris has someone in his office, do you want his voicemail and he’ll call you back when he’s free.” I left Chris a voicemail explaining my mother’s situation along with my name and phone number requesting the importance of a quick call back. It is now May 9, 2018 and I have still not received a call back from anyone at Kentmere. My mother has since passed. Thankfully, she was able to get excellent care at Heartland Hospice House. I just wanted to share my experience in the event you are in the need of care for a loved one; you may want to look somewhere more reliable than Kentmere. I’m only left to wonder if Kentmere’s lack of response in my family’s time of need was a telling sign of the care she would have received at their facility.

We should have read reviews on the sites before sending our family member to Pike Creek Cadia. The amount and depth of the things wrong there makes us feel ill. No communication, language barriers, miserable faces, uncaring attitudes, no respect for families and residents (not true regarding all employees but more than should be, considering the elderly are supposed to be well cared for), a general disappointment as a nursing home. We realize it is difficult to care for this population; however, more needs to change at this nursing home for us to be able to recommend it. Again, not all employees lack in their field, but too many do. One star given.

This is not a good place to send a loved one. We found out several days after my mother was sent here that there is no audible notice when someone pushes the call button - just a light over the door. My mother would push the button repeatedly when she needed to use the bedside commode, even yelling for help, and ended up getting out of bed by herself, even though she'd had 3 hospitalizations in 6 weeks and was identified as a fall risk. She would call my brother, who would call the front desk, and it would take almost 10 minutes to get a response. She was usually ignored even when whe said she couldn't breathe. She had just had pneumonia, and they put her in a room with a malfunctioning air conditioning unit. It usually smelled like mold when it was on, and kicked off so much her room got hot and it felt like I was walking into a sauna. She ended up in ICU for a week and almost died.If I could give a negative rating I would.

  • Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation & Health Center Millsboro, Delaware 19966

My father was in here in honestly I am ashamed to say he was a resident here. While under their care he was overdosed and ended up on life support. Thank god somebody had enough sense to call 911 after almost 2 went by. Dirty linens wit bm on them where rolled up into a ball and left at the end of his bed for 8 plus hrs, he was left without being toiled or changed for 6+ hrs. Unfortunately the hospital sent him to this god awful place that I would not even put my dog for treatment. He was moved to a much better rehab.

It's like pulling teeth to get anyone to listen! It seems like everything that takes some time is a pain for them to check out/follow up on. There is no communication/coordination and in some cases, no interest at all in helping. Sad to say our elderly people are being shortchanged so badly at this facility. Therapy is good though and they do care.

  • Cadia Rehabilitation Pike Creek Wilmington, Delaware 19808

I am not familiar with the entire facility, however I am very familiar with the long term care portion of Cadia Rehabilitation in the Pike Creek area. Do NOT send yourself or family members who you care about here. The CNAs (Certified nursing assistants) who deal with the patients from day to day are HORRIBLE and I have seen it first hand. I would say most of the actual nurses here are pretty good, however it is the nursing AIDS that deal with the patients first hand and I am EXTREMELY saddened and disappointed with these people. They are RUDE, and it baffles me as to why they have these jobs in the first place if they don't truley want to help and aid others. They are completely disrespectful to the patients. If the patient needs something the very often ignore, or say they are on a break or at lunch. Then the patient is stuck for hours without being helped. They gossip about coworkers and other patients in the facility in front of patients and family. It truley saddens me and I would NEVER send anyone I love to be taken care of here because the long term patients are treated very badly.

  • Shipley Manor Wilmington, Delaware 19810

My mother has been here for 2 years, in the independent living wing. The facility overall is clean and pleasant. Much of the staff is excellent. There is a welcoming atmosphere in the place. The food, however, rates only one star. It is tasteless, with the exception of breads and cookies. I think you get better food in a hospital! In some ways it may be as well that the food is unappetizing, since the portions are quite small. The service at dinner is often very poor, too. Although the stated hours for dinner are 5-7pm, it is expected that people will show up at 5pm. So while it might be more comfortable to have a couple of seatings, there really is only one. The other issue is the care in the skilled nursing/rehab wing. It feels like a mill geared to make money off Medicare reimbursements, much more than a facility caring for people.

I find that when I do not come daily to Shipley Manor to check on my mom, she does not get the care we needs. For example I was away for 3 days and came back to find her room smelling like urine, she was in a wet diaper, the sheets were wet, she had no supplies, her skin was dry and flakey and her hair was uncombed. The facility is under staffed and is run down….while the costs increase. When I complain I receive excuses. The management of the nursing home sits upstairs away from daily activity and seem to do little to reward good care by staff. My mom's care is nearly $8000 a month. Tonight's dinner was 3 shrimp with rice, a square of corn bread and ice cream.

  • Delmar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Delmar, Delaware 19940

Both my mother and father were in this facility over the past three years. The staff and other patients were great to deal with. The building is old and has been in service for as long as I can remember (17 year Delmar resident), but the owners continued to improved and maintain the conditions.

Would highly recommend to anyone in the area needing this type of care.

  • Forwood Manor Wilmington, Delaware 19810

My Mother had just been received in this healthcare facilities for rehab and I'm not please at all…the CNA'S sit around talking with one another when you need someone to assist your love one they take forever and there was a nurse who didnt know what she was doing when she was put a new bandage on my mother, i told her that, that was not the proper way of putting it on..then she stated that she didnt know how..I like really, then why are you putting it on??…I find no compassion for the elderly care there at all. Just waiting for a pay check. From the week that my Mother has been there, I'm truly waiting for her to come home and have the attention and care that she needs after her rehab. And I hope that is not too long. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Really Disappointed in this place, not all I thought it was going to be. :(

  • Cadia Rehabilitation Pike Creek Wilmington, Delaware 19808

The structure itself is very nice, clean, and up-to-date. There are reservations about the care received there, i.e., during the course of 3 weeks, one patient has fallen out of her wheelchair, her medication was forgotten at least one time, and she managed to get by the nursing station during evening shift on two occasions, getting as far as the front door in a wheelchair, wearing nights clothes. Also observed were 3 female employees engaged in a less than polite conversation about each of them being too busy to feed someone.

Also disconcerting was being told by a nursing supervisor that if "you can't help her, there is nothing we can do" when hygiene help was requested.

The personnel in OT/PT were professional and attentive to patients' needs.

I go over to see my parent daily and help in their care. I feel that my parent does not get the same level of care when I skip a day.

I have complained about finding my parent in wet diapers and forgotten for meals. There is a constant turn over of staff. Some of the staff is excellent and some a new staff is poor and exhibit little empathy or compassion for the patients that are entrusted to care for. For the amount of money charged I expect the staff to keep my parent clean and dry, medication given, helped with meals and someone to visit with her a bit each day.

  • Delmar Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Delmar, Delaware 19940

This nursing home is wonderful my sons grammy is there and the nurses and other staff are very helpful and have a great disposition. Everytime I come I get a warm welcome and get a report on how things are going with her. Almost every-time I come she is in activities, bless those gals they don't get near enough help but they do a great job with the people who live there

  • New Castle Health and Rehabilitation Center New Castle, Delaware 19720

My father was recently a patient at the Delaware Arbors location for 3 weeks after Heart Surgery. The staff was attentive, caring and always available to help when needed. I really observed a willingness to make patients as comfortable as possible since it has to be incredibly difficult considering the mindset of a lot of these folks that are fighting depression along with other health aliments to deal with the multiple personalities and their needs. You really have to be a special person to do this job. While a small complaint I would recommend considering more channles and a picture in HD since the TVs did seem to be of poor picture quality. The Flat Screens in the rooms were nice and big and sure have the ability to handle an upgraded service but I also understand their is a cost to be considered.

Keep up the great work and have a wonderful Holiday, thanks for all your help.

    Kind Regards, the Hicks Family

  • Shipley Manor Wilmington, Delaware 19810

I entered Shipley Manor directly from the Hospital. From the first day "what a world of difference". Staff was always pleasant and caring - food was excellant - housekeeping was important - docter was either present or on call - many days there was entertainment and it felt like home. I recomend it highly. It's location is also a plus - easily accessible for visitors who are welcome most of the day.
