This facility is disgusting, old and run down. I have a couple of friends who have been here in the past and would never return. The care they recieved was so bad I don't know how they manage to keep any of their patients for more than a few days.

Here's a copy of the letter I sent the administrator:

Dear Name Withheld,

I would like to thank Hearthstone and the entire staff for taking excellent care of my mother,Name withheld. On the evening of her arrival, she was so scared as she had just been transferred from St. Mary's Hospital. Your staff never dropped the ball as they immediately worked to make her comfortable. The main reason my mom was transferred to you was to take care of some pretty bad bed sores and participate in physical therapy as her legs had recently become paralyzed due to her cancer.

We were hoping her stay would only be a couple weeks, as she really wanted to go home to pass on where she would be comfortable. As time went on with her short stay with you, her health was declining fast and it was looking like the light at the end of the tunnel was dimming. During her good days there, she told me many times how she was happy and comfortable. About three days before she passed on, mom and I managed to talk for a bit. I asked her if she knew that she was very sick and she said yes. I mentioned to her that because she was so sick, It would not be a good idea to go home as I would not be able to offer her the care your staff was giving. I think my mom knew she was in her final days and understood what was happening, and was at ease with the probability of not coming home. On 02/25/2013 at 3:00 PM, my mom passed on.

Your staff and policy of letting her see our dog Name Withheld, was so comforting to both her and I as Name Withheld and I are the only family my mom has. Thank you so much for that, as we spent many hours beside my mother's bed. Hours before mom passed on, she got to see the dog and I, and pet her dog one last time. I know that meant the world to her.

My mom had several nurses, however one female night nurse stood out, I believe her name is Name Withheld? Mom was impressed how smart she is, and the comfort she offered me was soothing as I had nobody to turn to during a couple of my emotional visits.

Again, Thank You from the bottom of my heart. I know mom passed away with loving and caring people caring for her.

This place is the absolute best! It's very clean and very new, doesn't look or smell like a typical nursing home (Trust me I've had experiences with pretty much all of the other nursing facilities in this area between my parents and grandparents). I brought my mom here after she had a hip replacement and you could tell that everyone really cared and the therapy staff was really patient and wonderful! I can't thank the staff enough for being so helpful.

On a side note I would recommend that you have your insurance policy described to you in full beforehand as there was a bit of misunderstanding on my part at first.

Dont bring your loved ones here. Staff is too busy out smoking to care for patients. They are rude verbally and i believe physically. My mother always had bruises you could see were fingerprint marks on here body. They would say it was from her meds. Yea right! Because she had dementia i guess they felt she would forget. I have heard aids yelling at many patients. I believe most homes are filled with mean abusive staff members. But this place i saw with my own eyes and ears. Wish i had to do over i would not have brought mom here!
