They have some good committed people but, not as many as I would have liked to have seen in the 5 months I had to deal with them. I met the administrator the night my husband was admitted and never saw her again. She has no clue as to what is going on. They do not have nearly enough people to run the place with safe committed care to our elderly loved ones.

I have to say that I was not impressed with the care my loved one received before he died. No one should go to the hospital from any nursing home with a septic infection and dehydration among other things. The ice and water machines are locked and only employees can get a cup of ice water. So, the short staffed and overworked employees could never give those that wanted water any to quench their thirst.

Administration is extremely poorly represented. I feel the social worker services lacks any and everything related to a caring and professional demeanor. I wish I had known more before placement was made.

Overall, I wished I never had to step foot beyond the front door. One star is much more than they deserve in my opinion only. If you have a choice, do not place your loved one at this establishment.

I am embarassed to say that I would never recommend this local nursing home. It's in my hometown and yet I'd rather have my loved one in another town vs. this place. It's a beautiful building with lovely grounds, but the staff avoid any direct questions by me (I'm my Mom's activated HCPOA) and administrative staff will not return calls. They would regularly leave my Mom in bed, soiled with fecal matter. She'd sit for hours in her own urine and feces. We knew we needed to move Mom. but when we tried, it became a bigger nightmare. She had no one to advocate for her. We had to do all of the legwork ourselves and were not even given the chance for a meeting upon discharge. She was moved to a CBRF and they tried to help us the best they could, but you can't get anywhere if the Alden staff won't return calls. I would never recommend this SNF to anyone. They are understaffed, rude and don't care about the individuals they are caring for. Like the previous reviewer, I wouldn't have given any stars, but this program forces you to give at least one. If your physician recommends Alden, check out all of your options first. Don't just decide based on their "linen table service", waitstaff appearance in the dining rooms and their waffle-weave bathrooms. It's a shame that they can get away with treating human beings this way. Thank God, she's in a better place. The CBRF is wonderful and she's happy. And THRIVING!

My 87 year old father had the misfortune of staying at Alden Estates of Jefferson in January 2012. He came in for rehab after an 8 day stay in the hospital resulting from a fall at home due to dehydration. The inital appearance and general staff are friendly and seemingly helpful. The OT and PT staff were wonderful to him but the nursing and aide caregivers left much to be desired. He was left sitting in the bathroom for over 15 min after using his call button that I observed on numerous occasions. My Dad and family requested a leg bag for his Foley catheter as he kept getting tangled in the longer bag tubing. And although he was not supposed to get out of bed unassisted, he did and I found him several times either in bed or the bathroom all tangled up. Hence an additional safety matter they chose to ignore. We also had difficulties with the speech therapist who refused to let him have clear fluids, based on what was on the report from the hospital and not assessing him herself other than watching him eat. We as a family noticed he was disoriented and dizzy, unsteady and requesting water. We voiced our concerns to the nursing staff and actually suggested he was dehydrated, we've seen these signs before on him, but were also ignored. Long story short, he ended up back in the hospital after an almost 2 week stay, having fallen again at Alden Estates (under suspicious circumstances) with a diagnosis of severe dehydration and failure to thrive!! I give this facility zero stars but the program wouldn't let me submit without selecting at least one. Sue Martin
