Review of Avalon West Health & Rehabilitation

I can not believe I am the first person to review this facility! Bennion is a terrible place to be!!! I was a resident there for 30 days. There are not enough CNA's to care for the patients nor are there enough RN's to maintain each patients medical care. The physical therapy area is from the 1960's. The food was disgusting, all of it was purchased frozen or pre-made and then heated up or deep fried, no fresh veggies or fruit was ever served the entire time I was there. Food was especially bad on the weekends. Bennion is also in serious disrepair. For example, the heaters/air conditioners in each room are falling apart, the windows are drafty and at least 30 years old. From what I saw, this place cares more financially about billing insurance for the maximum amount and puts patients quality of care very last. Theft by employees, by mostly CNA's occurred to me and other residents while I was there. Background checks were not done before employees were hired either. I felt badly for the elderly patients there the most because they were more helpless than most other residents and received the worst care. I think animals in the animal shelter get cleaned up more than some of the sweet people I met while at Bennion. Please do not send any of your loved ones to this place, I honestly cannot believe the State of Utah has not shut them down, hopefully someone will.
