Review of Wellington Rehabilitation and Healthcare

5 Star User Review

This is the only facility in in Temple Texas that accepts LVAD Heart Pump residents. The physical therapy department director is currently finding excellent results from his clinical research on stroke. The physical therapy team was just featured in an article about kinesiotape. Wellington Place's wound care team has a specialized wound care doctor. This is a facility that works with just about every type of insurance, including a contract with Scott & White Health Plan. The Outpatient therapy program is located inside Anthony Chiropractic, also off of 31st street in Temple. A lot of people don't know that. This outpatient therapy team can assess you in 24 hours hours. Both the VA and Scott & White having rehabilitation waiting lists… so you can choose this place and avoid waiting up to a month for progress to start. As a matter of fact, if you learn in the hospital that a loved one can't go home yet - that they need a short term skilled nursing stay to get better BEFORE they go home, I would choose this place. Here's what I have learned recently; nursing homes are being used more and more often as a safe way to discharge people from the hospital before they go home. Wellington Place has become THE place to get people home at their prior level of function. A social worker on staff plans the discharge with a home health agency and ensures any medical equipment is delivered. I have noticed that some short term folks wish to stay longer because this is a very loving staff. Some people in the comunity have not received that kind off constant love and care for many years. It's as though it takes a hip fracture or suden need for I/V medication for them to get that warm attention, especially if they have been living alone. Wellington Place has a waiting list from what I know, but I think their patients go back home so quickly that beds open up. To qualify for Medicare, a patient needs a 3 midnight hospital stay. You'd probably want to call them them the minute your doctor suggests a skilled nursing stay. That way you have time to ask questions.
