  • Bel Air at Teravista Round Rock, Texas 78665

I have been a rehab patient in Bel Aire at Tera Vißta for about 3 months. My first complaint is with staffing, there is never enough and at night only 1 nurse and 1 aid. Also, there is a lot of turn over among the staff and that has much to do with the inconsistency of care. My medications are almost always late and they have often ran out of my pain meds on the weekend. And the pharmacy is in Houston.

The management keeps saying the conditions will be improved soon and, not surprisingly, I see nothing getting better. My requests to talk with doctor or a P. A. regarding my meds or general care concerns go mostly unanswered.

There are a few bright spots, a few of the staff are very concerned and caring

and the facility is warm and welcoming.but overall I would not recommend.

When you first interview the people at Bel Air and view the grounds, it is very nice. Everything you would want your loved one to be in. You are promised your loved one will be taken care of promptly, professionally and gently.

My loved one was admitted because of a stroke, he was confined to a bed because of it. He was not able to get up to use the bathroom and when he needed to use the urinal, he was not aware the door was wide open to the public. Nurses do not close the door upon entering or leaving, He ws exposed to all the traffic in the hallway.

Staff would sometimes take as much as 50 minutes to answer his call button, then would ask, "now what do you want?" They did not empty or clean the urinal and because of it, he would have accidents trying to use it while in bed. Linens and cloting would have to be changed. Needless to say, I washed and emptied the urinal daily.

The door leading to the courtyard had a once inch gap under it, crickets, spiders and bug would come in on a daily basis. I had to take care of the situation myself by taping the bottom of the door.

Staff from the floor also serve the food in the dining hall using the same scrubs they used on the floors. They did not use aprons or gloves and I never saw them wash their hands or disinfect their hands in anyway before serving the patients.

If I had to put my loved one in a nursing facility again, I would not choose Bel Air, that is why I give it a one star and if there was a minus with that, I would put that.

    One word: HORRIBLE.

They've spent a ton of money on a beautiful facility, but they are horribly understaffed. The nurses are rude and don't bother responding to the people in their ward. Just some of the problems: They don't always bring meals as they "forget". Medicine delivery is very, very late and often forgotten. The nurse came in the evening to deliver the morning meds. She was the ONLY nurse on staff that could deliver meds and there are about 75 patients. Even if it only takes 10 minutes per patient, that's a full day's work. Diet restrictions are not followed. They brought in food that would induce severe allergic reaction. When asked for help to use the bathroom, they provided a bedpan.

The response has been that they are too busy. They knew full well the needs as orders were sent a week ahead of time and they assured us they had a "5-minute policy" for responding to patients pressing the help button. It's more like an hour and five minutes, if they come at all. Some people's notification lamps stayed on ALL NIGHT with no response from the staff.

That staff didn't bother to read any of the documentation they were given from the referring hospital. This goes far beyond incompetence and is abuse.

If you care about the person you are putting in rehab and/or long-term nursing, avoid this place. It isn't a question of "if", it's a question of "when" someone files a lawsuit for abuse. That is if reports to medicare don't get them first.
