Review of Keller Oaks Healthcare Center

2 Star User Review

Not impressed with this facility. Prior to admission, we checked out the place. First impressions of the admission staff was great. Once that process was complete the rude switch was turned on. The bed mattresses seem to be old and worn out. The bed linens are old.The TV's and remotes are very old. The TV screens are small. The elderly have vision problems and a small screen hanging on the wall is difficult for most to see. The remotes fell apart in our hand. The furniture is old. The meals are pretty good. The staff for the most part was good. Over all this place needs an over haul. We will not use this facility again.

I have a family member in the facility and agree with everything you have said. They do make a good first impression with floors that shine and admittance people saying all the right things. Follow through, however, is another matter! The mattresses are bad and the linen is very worn and stained. Speaking of linen the tablecloths are often very stained and dirty. The meals often do not cater to the elderly containing lots of fried food. Sausage is served way too often, and fresh fruit is a very rare thing. If you have a love one there check the water containers. They are not changed

regularly and the residents often have to vend for themselves to get ice. You might want to keep an eye on how often the sheets are changed too. What they say happens and what really happens are not always one in the same.

Some of the staff is excellent, but many are not. It is a revolving door and no consistency for the residents which is so very important. The DON spends a

great deal of time outside smoking and not much time interacting with

residents or their families.
