Review of Silverado Hermann Park

Mother transferred there for 2-3 weeks of rehab. Arrived on a Thursday…by Saturday had a laundry list ranging from significant to moderate to annoying issues. Wasn't keeping track of her meds. Offered her 2 pain pills at once when only allowed to have 1 every 4-6 hours. PT was supposed to be 2 1/2 hours, they only gave her 15 minutes on day 1 and 1 hour on day 2. When she mentioned there were no hand towels in her bathroom, was told they don't supply bath / hand towels to patients unless they specifically request. Brought back from PT, told therapist she needed pillow under her leg per doctors orders…PT therapist said she'd be right back with pillow but never returned. Notified nurse her head was itching and asked her to inspect for rash or lice, nurse responded, "Yuck! That's gross!", and refused to get any closer than 2-3 feet to her. After having blood pressure checked, asked nurse to turn down A/C because she was a bit cold. Nurse turned thermostat to 80 degrees. About 10 other incidents…but you get the gist. Staff truly doesn't care about their jobs or the patients. Brought Accel paid social worker (Lori), facility Adminstrator (Bonnie), Head of Nursing and a few others into her room for a meeting to discuss need for significant improvement. They completely blew her off. Finally had to insist they process a transfer to a different facility. Still waiting on them to contact us back. Do NOT send a loved one to this facility!! Don't get fooled by the brand new building and the director of marketing that comes to the hospital to tell you how great the facility is. There are SO many better options in Houston.
