Review of Brookshire Residence and Rehabilitation Center

5 Star User Review

My mother has been in the memory care unit at the Oaks at Brookshire since August of 2011. When we were caring for our mother at our home we could not get her to eat or to bathe. She was down to 84 lbs when we first started caring for her and would not get out of her chair. After 3 months with us, she had gained up to 92lbs. After only six months at Oaks at Brookshire she was up to 105 lbs, eating in the dining room on a regular basis, taking walks outside. The music therapy for Alzheimer's patients really seems to lighten their mood. I have found ALL of the staff, friendly, caring, and attentive. When touring OTHER memory care facilities, the patients seemed over medicated, and lethargic. You never saw them walking about the halls. At The Oaks at Brookshire from the first day I visited until now, you can always find the patients smiling and saying hello, walking freely throughout their secure facility. This facility is not as fancy or new as some of the others, and we had originally planned to just let our mother stay here temporarily until medicaid was approved, but after seeing how calm, and comfortable she is here, I can't imagine ever moving her. They have consistently noticed every problem she has had, and addressed it immediately.
