  • Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center Jefferson City, Tennessee 37760

We're pretty new to the facility, but are pleased with the cleanliness of the facility & the general attitudes of the staff, so far. My only concerns are that the meals don't seem to come with any ryhme or reason with respect to the schedule. Our resident is accustomed to breakfast at 6:00 a.m., lunch at Noon, and dinner around 5:00 p.m. or so. Breakfast comes as late as 9:30 a.m. I've been there visiting & have seen trays delivered as late as 7:30 p.m. for dinner. The residents, in general, say dinner comes as late as 8:30 p.m. It's been my experience that rehab patients seem to respond BETTER to a regular SCHEDULE… especially their MEALTIMES, which is one of very few things they still have CONTROL of as a patient.

The food is pretty good, though. The staff also takes into consideration the individual residents likes & dislikes. That is nice, too.

Another concern is that we brought cigarettes for our family member to participate in outdoor staff supervised smoke breaks. Residents are required to wear aprons to protect them from accidental burns & are REMINDED to turn OFF their oxygen tanks & are NOT given lighters. But, the residents do NOT appear to be given THEIR cigarettes to smoke. I do understand that unsupervised cigarettes (pack of cigarettes left in the care/control of the resident) creates a risk for ALL residents because it MAY create the temptation to smoke UNSUPERVISED.

We do wish that he WOULDN'T smoke at all, for his health. But, in the case where family members take the time, effort & expense to afford their family member the dignity of making decisions that they DO have control over, it would be nice if the facility tried to accomodate the patient, as well.
