My husband is a patient here; care varies from shift to shift, employee to employee. Some are caring, others could care less. My husband has been left in his bedclothing all day, with food on the front of the gown. His teeth are never brushed and although he is showered twice a week, his head is dirty. He has limited mobility and can't scrub his scalp himself and obviously, no one helps. He gets no exercise at all, partly due to UPMC's hospitalization policies. I am aware that at other facilities, rudimentary exercise, 1-2 times perweek, at least to help the patient stand, is normal. I'm actively looking for another facility.
