If you hear someone say Harston Hall you need to run , walk, crawl, roll, as far as you can. When you hear stories about nursing homes I never believed them to be true until I came to this facility . It was the worst!!! The halls smell like bowel , it doesn't look clean. There 'a always people out in front of the entrance smoking, when many people don't want to be bombarded with cigarette smoke entering a building. There were many times that I pressed the button for someone to come help me in my room and it would take nearly a half an hour for someone to come and see what I needed. God forbid it was an emergency. The communication between myself and administration was no better, things that were suppose to get done didn't get done unless you constantly stayed on there back, I caught one of the administrators in a lie. They said that they did something but never did. I don't recommend this facility to no one!! I'm only giving it one star because some of the nurses were actually really nice, I would have givin it no stars.

I did not like the fact that when I arrived, no one was really able to know what I was talking about. In fact they could not even find my mother's name in their daily agenda. It was not professional for two staff members to discuss "where is she going?" in front of me. No one asked if I needed a hand with my mother since I was getting a wheel chair and the TWO nurses I saw enter the building would not even lend a hand when asked. One nurse said they just had to go and relieve another nurse with a snarky attitude and the other said they had to go get their supervisor which took about 20 minutes. Therefore, I am outside in the freezing cold trying to help my mother until help finally arrives. The two gentleman that arrived were so nice and helpful to me an my mom. However, upon entering, the floor that my mother was assigned to stay on smelled to high heaven. It reeked of bowel for they had a row of soiled linen containers in the hall way. This is not sanitary nor professional. I understand that older people do have a certain smell and accidents happen, but you do not want this overpowering smell hitting you a soon as you step off the elevator. you want the place to be enticing and inviting - after-all your family is staying there and you will have to visit repeatedly, right? Lastly, we get to the room and the attendant just leaves my mother in the wheel chair. You don't help with her coat or help her in the bed . She is waiting for a bout 25 minutes until my mother gets impatient and asks me to help her for she is tired. Before I helped, I went to get a nurse ( ironically it was one of those nurses that didn't help outside - Sylvia) and they never came to help. They gave me some BS about getting report and waiting to see who really had my mother as a patient. I felt like who cares - your job is to help and all you were doing was standing in the hallway looking at a medicine log book. When a new admittance arrives, you should be welcomed almost like a hotel because you are scared, the family members are scared for they know they have to leave you here for a while and to not get great service as a FIRST IMPRESSION, you feel unsure about whether your family will get adequate service. I know I felt this way. I hope things get better because this FIRST IMPRESSION was absolutely terrible.

Terrible! 99% of the patients there have memory problems and or dementia. Therefore the poor care that is constantly provided is never reported. Adminstration has changed alot..4 heads within two years. I am a caregiver to one resident who was there for 5 years. I was there visiting on a weekly basis and seen it all for myself. He was the only one who had his wits about him and was always calling the state in for an investigation. Three times Harston Hall tried to evict him because of this. Many of the residents roam the halls, there is a foul smell of urine throughout the place. Many residents are "parked outside in the hall" because the staff is too lazy to go room to room. This place is more like a concentration camp, rather than a care facility. DO NOT SEND YOUR ELDERS WITH MEMORY PROBLEMS THERE! Horrible place, it should be shut down!

Pathetic. Pedantic. My sister was admitted here January 2012. They aren't treating her in a timely manner--a wheelchair a day late, Not giving her the drugs the doctor prescribed. They have childish reasons for latenesses and treat patients like children.

I guess whoever owns it gets lots of money because they aren't spending it to staff it correctly.

The staff doesn't seem full time, so no one cares.

    Stay away.
