The Avenue at Macedonia, without any hesitation can tell the world, save my 100 year old mother's life!! The entire staff, from the admin to the smiling helpers in the dining room make my mother feel like a queen! When you walk in the front door you have to pitch yourself, is this a hotel for wealthy folks? OMG! it is bright and clean, does not smell like a typical nursing home facility. My mother was slowly being starved to death at her previous nursing home, within 6 weeks my mother gained at least 7 pounds!! She looks forward to leaving her room and sharing good conversation with her new friends. Now let's talk about therapy!! OMG! those ladies must be hiding angel wings under their shirts! They take their job very seriously and give my mother 150% effort everyday!! Her room is clean and bright, HD TV on the wall and the bathroom is also like new. I could go on and on about how happy my mother and our entire family is with this little piece of heaven. My mother has lived her entire life with honor, and she is being treated with the kindness and dignity she deserves.

My mother stayed at this facility briefly while recovering from back surgery. My family agrees that no one should see their loved ones treated the way my mom was treated there! I’m giving one star because the therapy aspect was good and we appreciate that. However, there are so many complaints with the rest of the staff that it’s hard to review them here. Aides and nurses would use my mom’s bathroom to have private cell phone time. It seemed like the staff had a goal to dodge responsibilities. We heard countless excuses of “that wasn’t my shift” or “I can’t do anything about that” etc. The patient is the constant in such a situation and the patient should not be drastically affected by shift changes or different staff members caring for her. The care should be unified! The nurse practictioner even said the words “I don’t even work here, I have no idea what goes on in this place”. These are things no patient should ever hear! My mom had to fight to receive her prescribed medication. They treated her like a drug seeker and sometimes her call light would be on for over an hour (she was not supposed to get out of bed without assistance, yet assistance was rarely available.) We has a meeting with the director but nothing changed. We found out that my mom was reported for calling a nurse a profane name, which is untrue and actually laughable if you knew my mom. The nursing staff at this facility is a group of poor quality individuals, seemingly personally as well as professionally. They lack empathy and the basic fundamentals of caring for another human being. For the past week, my mom has begged to be checked for possible pneumonia but nothing was done about it. So she’s currently in the ICU being treated for severe pneumonia and other infections that were ignored during her stay at this negligent facility. She will not return upon her discharge from the hospital. We are disappointed and disgusted at the people we encountered at Green Village. My hope is for the staff to re-evaluate themselves and try to remember why they got involved in nursing. Surely they would never want a loved one to be cared for by nurses like themselves.

Horrible care and poor staffing. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVE ONE IN HERE. I was there are a daily basis asking questioning and getting put off until loved one was rushed to hospital. They are very good at covering up their mistakes don't be fooled by them please.

This place puts on a good front but treats its elderly patients terribly! They put on a good show during the day but when visitors leave they yell at the patients, they do not answer the calls, rooms are not cleaned showers are not given. It is as another reviewer on another site said like a warehouse for the elderly waiting to die!

I would not put an animal in here!

Our mother is thriving at Bath Creek Estates. Our experience has been totally the opposite to the other review. Our mother is always clean, happy (as one can be in a long term care facility), and there are always staff around, from housekeeping all the way up to administration. Is everything perfect, no, but when someone finds that place let us know and we will sign up. Bottom line, our mother would no longer be on this earth if we had not found Bath Creek Estates!! Show up often, get to know the staff, be involved and you will see the positives.

Memory Care Unit - Patients are parked and forgotten. The people that have to be here are not properly cared for. Much of the staffing will play games with anyone that asks for anything. Example, water, coffee, taking someone to toilet. If you are pegged as someone who "needs a lot" the staff will make sure you wait a very long time for anything. There 3 employees that are very childish and I worry about my loved one who can't express what happens when I'm not there. This situation is very stressful and I get no comfort feeling that my relative is going to be taken care of.

DON non -responsive to family requests for meeting. Nurses do not discipline STNAs for being rude to Residents. Nursing staff overwhelmed with new admits on a daily basis. Supervisors no where to be found.

The care is fine during the week. Weekends, however, are sheer Hell. Meals served run from 30mto 45 minutes late. Non-mobile patients are dressed and put n their wheelchairs. Then they are stacked up in an area used by mobile patients as ther dining room. These patients are denied access to ther tables until aides move the wheelchairs. Assistance in rooms also is impossible One resident was stranded on her toilet for an hour. Yes, her call light was on. Another patient had to wait over an hour fr someone to get her out of her bed and to the bathroom. Patients who take time sensitive medicines also are out of luck on any day of the week. Nurses adhere to their own schedule. Doctors' orders are ignored and patients suffer accordingly.

This place is horrible. There were ants in my mothers room, and she was served cold food on a daily basis, they gave us a difficult time in getting my mother out of there. And finally, they destroyed parts of my mom's medical records, which was admitted by the administrator Monica Agee in email. No telling how much more of the medical records they have altered or destroyed since they are stonewalling their release. NO ONE should subject their family members to this horrid place.

My mom went here following a stroke for Physical Therapy rehab.

HORRIBLE food, after a while the staff admitted they were going to hire a new chef, but didn't. Staff was rude and not attentive, either to call lights or basic issues. The nursing manager did finally admit there was a specific employee with a history of complaints. My mother was not monitored for bowel movements and went NINE days without a stool, finally when we were about to take her forcibly to the E.R. the doctor ordered an enema.

Therapy was pathetic. Of the claimed hour per day, half or less was given.

I do not know how Canal Pointe stays open! They really need State in there to see how employees talk & treat Pt's,leave Pt's o2 off for long periods,the list goes on & on plus I have pics Social Work does not even return your calls its like your family is trapped there & you cannot get a tranfer!! D.O.N. does not care that staff does not have CPR Certification she says & I quote " thats what Respiratory is for" REALLY??

I am not totally sure of the entire story to each of the reviews I have read on here, but they are not accurate with my experience at the facility. I have never smelled a foul odor anywhere at anytime I have ever been there. The staff has always been helpful to me and my loved one. I can say that sometimes short staffing happens but that happens everywhere when people call off work. I just hope someone out there takes a look for themselves and this and any other place you may want to put a loved one. You need to form your own opinion and not let someone else do it for you. My mother went to the Arbors for rehab following a stroke on Feb 21. she has now been at the facility 22 days. She has gotten worse instead of better. They have left diapers on her so not to be bothered with her. She has developed a horrible bed sore on her behind. We have also found that they keep her drugged with Haldol to keep her quiet. She has been so drugged that hardly no speech or physical therapy has been given. We went to visit only to find her covered in dry throw up and she had messed herself hours before with no one changing her. I have contacted an attorney to have removed with things get any worse.

The stay started out as a rehab stay. That part was okay. As soon as my mom was moved to the long term care she was virtually ignored. My daughter and I went to visit her in her "new room" on the resident side. It was a large room and recently painted. That's all the good I can say about it. The room was freezing, the windows were open (!) and unlocked and the cold air was just pouring in. My mom was freezing, there were no blankets, no pillow for her and no aides, nurses or any staff that we could find. We turned on her call light and no one came for over 40 minutes. The only reason anyone came was because I had to find a staff member to remove a "visitor" from her room. This resident was unable to talk, didn't know her name or her room and scared my mom by just rolling in and sitting there. Finally a staff member came in, reached over my mom to turn off the call light and proceeded to yell at the resident to lift her feet, lift her feet, lift her feet.! The smell in the hallway was atrocious. The entire several hours we were there the hall smelled like feces, and it was strong. We had to put our arm over our face to go down the hall to the nurses station to find someone. There was no one there, for a long time. The only people who spoke to us were other residents. Finally I found an aide who gave me a plastic pillow and announced she had no pillow cases. We covered up my mom with blankets and left for the night. After we got home I called and they promised to "address" all my concerns. I was overwhelmed and went back to get my mom out of there. At least at home I know she is warm, fed and the doors and windows are locked.'When we returned they had done a quick clean up and the place smelled of disinfectant and soap. They were concerned over the windows and the excuse was that the room was unoccupied for 3 weeks and there was no heat because 7 days earlier it was 95 out and now that it was 52 degrees outside they couldn't switch any HVAC over.

She is home now, in bed, warm, with pillows with pillowcases, blankets and warm pajamas. There is someone to watch her as she is a fall risk, but she was a fall risk there and no one came in her room to check on her for over 2 hours!

I gave 2 stars only because the rehab part was better, the resident side is abysmal. Run away from this place.

I agree with the above reviwe!!! My mother lived at Falls Village and it was somewhat ok at first when she could take care of herself,walk down to meals and back, brush her teeth and comb her hair and get herself dressed, but after they let her fall twice in one morning and she broke her hip on the second fall that day and had she to have surgery, it all changed. She not only had terrible care but fell 3 weeks later with 2 monitors on her and rebroke her hip and also broke her wrist, not to mention when I got there after they called me about the fall, they had her in the dinning room sitting in a wheelchair with a rebroken hip and no ice or anything on her wrist, and no pain meds. Not to mention she was in a puddle of piss that anyone even with a cold should have smelled. Oh and I didn't mention she HAD Alzhiemer's, so how stupid of me to think they would have keep a closer eye on her! This happened in July and she died in Sept. Think twice about where you put your loved one when your looking for GOOD care!!!!!! I would tell you not here!!!!!

Would not return to this place. I went there for rehab, but only got one hour of therapy a day. The cushion of my wheelchair smelled like urine and was filthy. When I requested it be cleaned I received attitude from the staff. Its difficult to find anyone to take responsibility. Many people passing the buck. I will never go back
