  • Laurels of Mt Vernon The Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050

If you want your family member or friend to get the care they need please don't send them here! My Dad was there for rehabilitation and did not get any, he was left to lay all day and was never gotten out of bed to be worked with. His condition got worse and his so called doctor (dr. spencer) just kept giving him more and more medicine that just made the whole thing worse! When we first took my Dad everyone from the boss to the cook came to his room and made it look as though he was going to get the attention he needed, but now I know that was all for show! I don't believe the staff likes to be bothered with their jobs and would rather be out behind the building smoking, that is where most of them were when I was there. My Mom got a call and they said that my dad had been taken to the hospital so when we got to the hospital they said his kidneys were very bad and a lot of it I believe was from dehydration. He passed away 2 days later. Now I don't have my Dad any more so if you want to keep your loved one safe I would think hard before sending them to the Laurels. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the web site because it isn't true.

  • Country Club Retirement Center Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050

I am only rating this facility as one star because the nursing and physical therapy staff was professional and caring. The administrative staff, however, was not. My father-in-law was admitted for rehabilitation on his shoulder and his mobility was poor. We were told he had to leave suddenly because of medicare. The director promised us he "wouldn't kick him out" but that's exactly what happened(my father-in law also had private insurance and is not indigent). His 91 yr old wife using her walker to pick up his belongings received no assistance from anyone. No formal discharge plan was implanted and I filed a complaint with the area office on aging. I don't recommend this facility and its medicare, medicaid rating is poor.

Cleanliness of the facility is not good, food is horrible, administrative staff seems to be very uncaring. Facility is obviously ran on a very tight budget, thus housekeeping and food dollars at at a minimum. I regret having used this facility!
