  • Community Care and Rehabilitation Marion, Ohio 43302

For the past 4 years Kindred has been providing total loving care for our niece. At the age of 46 she was diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer's, several years prior to her caretaker mother's death. Following that death, our niece’s condition rapidly deteriorated and we could no longer maintain her in a home setting. After shopping around we determined Kindred to be the best solution for her, and entrusted her to Kindred's care, which has proven to be the absolutely correct decision. Kindred personnel have attended to the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our niece as she has continued to slip away from her children, friends, and us. Kindred staff always interact with understanding, with tender personal physical care, with comfort, and with love … knowing that she is slipping away. Kindred could not have done a better job.

My mother was a resident at Kindred for about 4 months during which she was in hospice. We had almost daily contact with her during this time and observed first hand the relationship that the different staff had with her. We found the nurses, nurses aids and dietary staff to be attentive to her needs as well as treating her with respect and a caring attitude. Staff were willing to answer our questions and were responsive to our requests that they do things which we felt would make mom more comfortable. At no time did mom exhibit any anxiety of being in Kindred or display any concern with how she was being treated. Kindred staff were willing to work in coordination with hospice staff and volunteers to ensure her continued comfort as she progressed through the dying process. Because of the changing staff schedules and different shifts, we learned that it is important for family to maintain close contact with staff to ensure that all staff are receiving up to date information as to what the patient and family wishes are regarding patient care. This helped us to get to know many of the staff as individuals and to gain an appreciation for all the work that they do. As a family we felt very welcomed at Kindred and appreciated the individualized care given to our mother to meet her unique needs during the last months of her life.

I recently had to have short term placement for my aunt and uncle. I admitted them to Kindred Healthcare and Rehabilitation for a 30 day stay. They where taken care of above my expectations, The staff were friendly and patient, especially with my aunt who has early dementia. If the need should ever arise that another family member of mine should need placement again. I would gladly admit them into kindred again.

We are VERY pleased with the care my Mother (95 yrs. old) has received at the Kindred Memory Care unit. The staff is very friendly, professional and caring.

The staff will call call us when anything needs done as far as any condition change or medication or if therapy is needed. They are very friendly when we visit and are willing to answer any questions. We also LOVE Toby who is the resident comfort service dog. All the residents love him. The staff watches the diet of each patient and feeds those that need assistance. Everyone has been very caring for my Mother and for all the residents. I can say, the residents are receiving the best of care. At Kindred, my Mother is safe and being treated with dignity. Kindred has also been patient with me while helping us walk through the financials. I am so grateful for Kindred.

As a minister in Marion, I visit patients in Marion General Hospital, shut-ins, and all the nursing homes in and around Marion. I have seen good nursing homes and bad. Over the last 25 years I have spent a great deal of time visiting Kindred Care Nursing Home, formerly Community Nursing Home. I believe it is the most improved facility in Marion, and as a result, it also has become one of the best, if not THE best, in and around Marion. I have been recommending, and will continue to recommend, Kindred Care as the place to go for skilled nursing care. Keep up the good work!

My Mother was in the Marion Kindred Care. She was there for almost 2 years before she went home to be with the Lord In October of 2013. The staff was amazing!!! They cared for her and our family during her stay. I would highly recommend this facility. They always seem to have fun things to do at this facility. Thanks again to the staff for doing a wonderful job caring for all of us.

  • Marion Manor Nursing Home Inc Marion, Ohio 43302

My dad has alzheimer's and we placed him in Marion Manor just for a 5 day respite visit. When I left him there, he was all the time walking around, smiling, laughing and joking with people. Two days later, I came back to find him half dressed, sitting in a wheelchair, drooling, so doped up that he was barely responsive. The general reaction I got from the staff was that they didn't know that wasn't normal for him.

I had heard that the owner of the facility was now also a resident, and thought that spoke well of the place since he was willing to stay there, but he must get better treatment than everyone else! The building was cold, some of the residents were left sitting around in the hallways doing nothing, they seemed to be under-staffed. *One good point, there are a few of the staff that are very friendly and have a heart for the elderly. I liked that.*

The care my mother received at Kindred this last month or so before she passed away was phenomenal. From the RN's to the LPN's to the aides - everyone treated her with the utmost dignity, respect & attentiveness - more than anyone could ask for. Every day with her through the dying process was made more special thanks to all of the staff.

I am an employee at this same facility yet amazed at the quality of care provided.

To anyone looking for a nursing home in which to entrust their loved one, I can't say enough good things about Kindred.

    In regards to My Aunt:

I have been an employee at Community for 20 years. It is different when you are a family member. The staff is great and I believe in my co-workers. I would like to see my Aunt more involved and encouraged to participate in Activities. She looks so much better and seems to enjoy therapy.

  • Heartland of Marion Marion, Ohio 43302

I would never recommend Heartland. We were so very disappointed in my mothers care. Don't be fooled by the pretty wallpaper and lovely furniture in the lobby. She was subject to falling constantly because staff failed to respond to calls in the night by her roommate alerting them to my mother's walking about. They often waited 20 minutes for someone to come. For the month that she was at Heartland , we were never communicated with and when we finally demanded to speak to someone, approx. 3+ weeks into her stay , we were told they were sorry that we were "overlooked" . When we finally were spoken to, we were told that they guessed that mom would be there for at least another month and maybe two. The following week , we were told that she had to be out of Heartland in one week. Extremely poor communication. $440 /day and the care was poor, food unedible, and unprofessional level of communication. I am sorry and feel guilty for putting my mother through this experience.

Concerning the care of my mother

The honesty and personal care that has been given my mother for the last four years is more than I expected, but what I hoped to get. Any issues that come up was worked out to my satifaction. Instead of letting my mother just lay, the staff has always gotten her up to mix with the general population. When emergencies did happen, I was promptly called.

    Thank you all at Kindred

My grandmother has lived at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Community since 2007. She resides in the Alzheimer’s unit. The environment is safe she is in a secure unit were I do not have to worry about the safety of my grandmother. The unit offers a homey atmosphere the staff treats grandma as if she is their own family. She is so happy living at Community. She receives the best care from the wonderful staff at the facility. I have had no issues about my grandma’s care since she has been at the facility. The staff keeps me informed about any issues that may arise. Before she came to Community, she was in another facility in Marion she did not receive the care that she does at Community. I was worried about her safety at the other facility because they did not have a secure unit.

My mother has been a resisent of Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation Community for six years. They have a very Friendly Staff and have given her excellent care. With my residence being 130 miles away and still working, the staff at Kindred Nursing have been very informative of her condition and responsive to her needs and care. We have learned that we can count on them to adjust to mom's health situation. Also during our visits we find that the housekeeping and the environment surpass other places we have visited.

  • Community Care and Rehabilitation Marion, Ohio 43302

My dear friend, Harold "Dan" Miller, was a patient at Community several weeks ago. The kindness and caring shown to him while he was there was so comforting to his loved ones. The staff gave excellent care to Dan, and kept his daughter informed of his condition. Dan had stage IV lung cancer, and was in a lot of pain when he arrived from the hospital. The nurse called the doctor right away, as the hospital did not order him any pain medication! Within an hour, he had pain relief. Dan was very grateful for that, given that his biggest fear was being in pain at the end. Even though he passed away after a couple of days, they made us feel like he was an old friend. If I could, I would give them 10 stars!

My wife was a resident of Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Community ,in Marion,Ohio , from June 2001 to February 2010, approxmately 8 1/2 years. Most of that time I fed and visited my wife 3 times daily. All staff, including, Administration , Housekeeping , Maintenance , Dietary , Therapy , Activities , and of course Nursing , showed great compassion toward my wife in addition to their regular duties. She received excellent care. My actual rating would be 4 1/2 stars ( B+ or A- ). This could easily be 5 stars.I feel there should be more STNA's and Activity Persons on hand to spend time with the residents. This would particularly apply to those residents who have few if any regular visitors.

I am a seventy one year old female patient at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. I have been here for nine days. I have found the staff here to be personal and caring. I have been in a bigger and fancier facility, but bigger is not all ways better. I would gladly trade bigger and fancier for small personal care and this is what Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Community offers. I have been allowed to heal at my own personal pace, doing what I can for myself, but knowing help would be at my side if I need it. My therapy has also been a good experience I have been prompted to do what I can,but not pushed to do what I can’t. The nurses are professional, but not rigid. They know how to smile. They have placed me with a roommate that is a person of faith like me. We have had many good laughs. This has helped to make my stay here ever pleasant. I will be leaving tomorrow, but I leave with the realization that I have been in one of the best care facilities in Marion.

  • Community Care and Rehabilitation Marion, Ohio 43302

I liked the friendly staff and the good care I received from my aides and nursing. I also appreciate the therapy staff and their hard work to prepare me to return home. The hair dresser was a great addition to my time there. There were many activities that were available to me and I was always asked to participate.

  • Community Care and Rehabilitation Marion, Ohio 43302

I would highly recommend the Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation-Community for several reasons:

    - the employees (nurses, aides, management) all know my father by name, and treat him as a friend. At the same time, they all provide him with excellent care in a professional, compassionate and respectful manner.

    - the staff continually keeps me informed of any changes in his condition, or his medication/care plan, and care conferences are conducted on a regular basis to discuss any concerns/issues.

    - the entire staff is very accessible, and are always willing to discuss any problems/issues that may arise, and are always willing to assist both my father, and the family as required.

    - the facility is most always clean, the food is very good, and the general environment is well maintained.

Overall, I am confident that my father is being cared for in a friendly environment, and in a professional and respectful manner.

My brother, George Rush, has been a resident of Community Nursing and Rehab for about thirteen years. Over the time he has been there, I have come to know the people who care for him daily. I must say he not only gets excellent care there but the whole staff who have anything to do with his care are very caring people and do all they can to make him happy. When he requests things, they do their best to attend to him quickly. Everyone who works there speaks to him by name when they see him in the hallway. I can tell that they really care about him and he is not just a patient, but someone they care about. Many of the people who work there have been there for many years and therefore a friendship has developed between them and him. The facility, itself, is very clean and orderly. When he had to go into a nursing home, I could have chosen from about six or seven facilities in Marion and I am so glad that I chose Community Healthcare.
