Review of Mapleview Country Villa

Was so disgusted by the quality of care the long term care resident's received. I cannot fathom how they passed state inspections. Just this past month, state has been in so many times in response to family's complaints. After talking to some of my friends who are on the nursing staff, there is much disconcerning unhappiness. I have never seen such a dog eat dog world, nurses eating their young (aides too). I didn't see one smile on the floor. Not one. I overheard, who I later learned was the unit manager, yelling a nurse on the middle of the floor, belittling her. Very unprofessional. Lunch was pure chaos. There is no order, customer service or any displays of kindness. Residents were lopsided in chairs, never offered clothing protectors, or choices of drinks. An aide just slammed a cranberry juice down in front of resident even after the resident had asked for milk. They weren't asked for choice of dressings. The rooms are disgusting. Housekeeping was standing around chatting. The "spa" room door was open and there were dirty towels and dirty briefs all over the floor. Stacks of trays from what I'm assuming was breakfast (syrup and cereals) were stacked in the kitchenette. There were flies all over. And I swear I saw these big flat beetles. These poor residents reeked of urine and feces. I don't even want to imagine what passes for peri care around there. The list goes on and on. I don't even want to know I would find after going into residents rooms, the state of their linens or briefs, how long a med pass takes or how long it takes for someone to get a prn pill. Imagine if this is where your grandma was at. And this is just from walking around. Needless to say I will not be seeking employment at the establishment. This is just what I saw and heard. Not somewhere I want to spend my days at nor where I would ever send someone I knew or loved.

I agree wholeheartedly to the negative reviews. For the most part, this facility is sub standard at best. The daily care by the majority of the aides is terrible. However, there where a few aides that tried to do a good job. I seriously doubt they are still employed there due to the fact administration does not support nor encourage them. The nursing staff is terrible. They lack compassion and skill. A person has to be in distress before they paid attention to them. Do not be fooled by the beautiful and modern facility. This is not the place you want to put your loved one for rehab or long term care. There are better facilities in the area with better track records and outcomes. I know this because my mother was there and almost died due their lack of care.

You are absolutely correct. Nurses and aides lack pride, competency, compassion, and ethics. Aide to resident ratio is 1:27 at times. Resident's hygiene is neglected daily. Incontinent residents go hours without being changed left in urine soaked briefs and wheel chair cushions. Laundry constantly loses clothing. Residents often go days without a shower. Peri care doesn't exist most times. Resident's safety is also concerning there with aides often left to do two person transferring by themselves. It might look good on the surface but thats not the case when it comes to the care of your loved one. The administration treats the staff horrific thus running off what few good aides they had. I would not subject my worst enemy to this type of facility.

Are we talking about the same place? Mapleview Country Villa off South Street (SR 44) just south of Chardon? My mom has been in there on the rehab side three times and I know of friends loved ones living on the longterm side. They have only been open a couple of years. I personally have been on both sides visiting at all hours. I have never seen any bugs, smelled urine or noticed any dirty clothing laying around. The residents have monthly birthday parties as well as musicians that come in. There is always activities during the day that staff helps residents enjoy. The staff are always friendly, courteous and helpful. My mom hadoesn't been in another center in Painesville. Now, there I had seen unsanitary conditions.
