Review of Margate Health and Rehab Center

5 Star User Review

My mother, who has Parkinson's disease, has been in 5 different nursing homes in 3 different states over the past two years. The one in SC was average from what I hear (I didn't see that one), but Mom hated it. The two in Baltimore were terrible (dreary atmosphere and a staff with "attitude"), and the one in Philadelphia was so negligent that Mom went in with no skin problems at the end of December, and by the time we took her out in May she had a stage 4 (!!!) pressure sore--open down to the bone. (The staff at the Philly nursing home had told us it was as "a stage 2.") Most of the staff in Philly were surly and uncaring. Then my brother brought my mother to Margate. What a difference!!! The staff actually CARES about the residents. The ratio of staff to residents is much higher than it was in the other facilities. Mom likes the food, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is cheerful. Based on our family's experience so far, I would highly recommend Margate.
