Review of Pisgah Manor Health Care Center

Mostly the issue is with CNA staffing. The turnover of CNAs at this facility is insane. Many do not stay very long. They grow frustrated and quit. Continuity of care is not good because CNAs are moved around from group to group. This seems to be due to the way scheduling is done…not sure….though there does seem to be some effort to keep CNAs working in the same groups. The movement of CNAs is a frustration to family members who try to maintain relationships with the CNAs that care for their loved one. This relationship is important because there are many things to know about each patient so that care is optimal, but, when CNAs are assigned groups that they are not familiar with then they do not know about the many little details of caring for the individual patient. It is hard to hold CNAs accountable for the care given (or lack thereof) when they are moved from group to group. For instance, oral hygiene and finger/toe nail care is sorely lacking. Also, the facility should make the group sizes and locations more manageable for CNAs. On the other hand CNAs need to be held more INDIVIDUALLY responsible for the care that each one is giving. There is not much of a system for checking the work of CNAs. This facility really needs to improve CNA issues so that the patients get the best care possible and CNAs can really have a sense of pride and accomplishment in their work (which most are greatly desiring though some do not care). More focus should be given to this issue because it is the level of CNA care that makes or breaks a facility.
