My mother, who has Parkinson's disease, has been in 5 different nursing homes in 3 different states over the past two years. The one in SC was average from what I hear (I didn't see that one), but Mom hated it. The two in Baltimore were terrible (dreary atmosphere and a staff with "attitude"), and the one in Philadelphia was so negligent that Mom went in with no skin problems at the end of December, and by the time we took her out in May she had a stage 4 (!!!) pressure sore--open down to the bone. (The staff at the Philly nursing home had told us it was as "a stage 2.") Most of the staff in Philly were surly and uncaring. Then my brother brought my mother to Margate. What a difference!!! The staff actually CARES about the residents. The ratio of staff to residents is much higher than it was in the other facilities. Mom likes the food, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is cheerful. Based on our family's experience so far, I would highly recommend Margate.

My grandmother, 82 years old, was a rehab patient at this facility 3 different times. Rehab department was okay but the nursing staff was horrible! She rang her call bell to use the bedpan and had to wait 20 minutes for staff to assist her. When they finally came she had already been incontinent! Also, a nurses aide came into her room one morning to help her get dressed and turned the air conditioner on. My grandma asked her to turn it off and the CNA replied "oh honey, you'll be okay once you get your clothes on." Another example of the nursing staff's behavior is the time 2 CNA's assisted my grandma to the toilet, and then left the bathroom door wide open while they both (one was male) sat down on her bed and began gossiping about the facility. Meanwhile, two more aides entered the room and then it was like some break time in my grandmas room while she was trying to shit!!! Very rude and unprofessional. Sadly, my grandma also witnessed the nurse give her dependent roommate medicine, crushed in applesauce, without water or anything to drink! How heartless! The food was only edible about half of the time. Food is definitely not catered to the elderly. On her meal ticket under dislikes it said eggs and every morning she got eggs!! It is clearly obvious that this for -profit facility is not truly concerned about the well being of their residents or employees. They are way understaffed. On night shift there are only 6 nurses aides and 2 nurses to provide care to 120 patients! This is not safe for our loved ones! Overall, the experience was not enjoyable for my grandma, and I felt the need to visit her everyday to ensure that proper care and treatment was being provided. I would not recommend putting my loved one in this facility.

I would never recommend to send your loved one here. They have a new administrator who is making changes that does not help residents and just makes it harder .The food is terrible and the menu is not for elderly and they won"t eat it.The staff has been cut so they can"t keep the facility clean or give the patients QUALITY care THey need.

I would like to see the Administrator ,executive Director ,develop a Moore enjoyable facility environment.

Secondly the Director of nursing should be available to all residents during various shifts.

And the facility should do a better job at retaining RN "S that have @ the minimum a 4year BS. degrees in Nursing.

This facility operates under a rush and get it done pace .

Residents and staff deserve better support and input with policy at this facility.

I would never recommend this facility to anyone.
