NOT A PLACE TO LEAVE A LOVED ONE!
My father, a 79 year old man, recovering from a debilitating case of pneumonia, is a patient at this facility. I cannot complain about the amount of physical therapy he is receiving. That part has been fine. However, as is the norm for most of theese places, they keep him stuck in a chair, in front of the nurses station, all day long. Now, when he was admitted, I was told that I could contact him as often as I liked. I was told that there was a phone in his room, by which I could reach him. So, when that failed, I had the operator connect me to the nurses station, on Unit 5, where my father currently is. It was at this point where things began to turn, for the VERY worse. Attempting to not drag this out; I will say that the nursing staff has been rude, cursing, after putting the phone down, to wheel my father to the phone. And, they, flat out, lie when they don't feel like rolling him over to take my call. Furthermore, they have allowed someone with a history of imprisonment to be listed as one of my fathers point of contact, (Don't they do background checks?) and have asked my fathers wife to not allow me to speak to my father. This was done because I complained to the administration staff. In doing so, I expressed that I was considering contatacting " http://www.jointcommission.org/ " to look into the matter. Then, in one of the CRUELEST act of mental abuse, that could be put on a patient. They HUMILLIATED my father, confronting him, and, thus, impeding his rehabilitation. My poor sister had all to do, in calming him down and was even too upset, herself, to speak to me about the matter. I would not even send somone on "Death row" to this establishment. And, do not be fooled by their 5 star rating. This is given by the managing company that is contracted to run theese ficilities. They usually hand out theese empty awards near the end of their contract, to coerce the contracted facility into renewing their contract. So, it is all self serving.
