Your loved one would get better treatment in a kennel if they were being treated like my mother has been. April 2017.
I am at Brookside Multicare Nursing Center due to a stroke. I find the nursing care and therapy services to be excellent and very professional. I like going to many of the recreational activities. Brookside always attends to my individual needs and responds to my problems. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of care and attention that I am receiving.
My husband was a patient in this short term rehabilitation and nursing home facility fior 6 weeks and was discharged January 9, 3027. The rehabilitation staff is great! The nursing staff is great! The facility is kept very clean. They have a bakery cafe on the premises that has freshly baked goods everyday! The only problem with the facility is the nurse's assistants. They try to do a good job but the problem is the facility is under staffed for nursing assistants so it's hard for them to keep up. Otherwise, if you live in Suffolk County and are in need of a good rehabilitation facility you should check itbout. Excellent physical and occupational therapy!
Where to start- well it is a beautiful looking place like a hotel -big screen TV’s free full cable access - clean nice rooms - but that is where my praise ended! The staff in nonexistent -when you do find a nurse or assistant they are pleasant and helpful if you don't ask for much. I found the physical therapist and social working would not listen to my father or my requests. The PT would speak in technical terms and expected an 87 yr. old man to change how he walks and go up and down stair or would not release him. And every time i got off the phone with them i got a call from someone who told me about how my father's Medicare would not cover the full stay they want and she will work on Medicaid - Even when i told her he was not staying pass the 20 days Medicare covered. Every time I spoke to someone i was either blown off or told he has to stay - is it a Prison and all they want is the money from insurance or you. I had the same experience when my mother was in another rehab OLOC in West Babylon- all they want in the money - no wonder why the new presidential administration wants to change Medicare. These so call Rehabs do nothing to help the person and MILK the insurance how are the elderly to have medical care if these thieves are allow to continue as they are. My dad was in there only to get his strength back from being dehydrated - and the doctors told us needed a few days only - it is going on 2 weeks now! Guess i need to call the governor to get him out! - Bottom line DO NOT GO HERE!!
My mother in law is here. Wife n I can not sleep until she is out of here. HORRIBLE. Left mom in dirty diaper for 3 hours when we were there…what do they do when we are not. Staff if nasty as can be.
My dad has been living at Acadia Center for almost 3 years now. This place has made a huge impact on his life. Having to move away from my mom was not easy on him but was necessary for his well being. With him being at Acadia Center my mother and our family know that he is always taken care of with the utmost respect and kindness. My father has always been a very quiet person but ever since he became a resident of Acadia Center he has become more out-going. He takes part in and enjoys all of the activities they offer to their residents. The staff there is remarkable, the place is kept clean and his room made comfortable. We never worry about him with his health because the doctors from the Kao group and the Nursing and PT staff keep a close eye on all of the residents they take care of.
They have a beautiful outdoor patio for the residents to enjoy that is very pleasant during the summer time. They celebrate holidays, they have birthday parties and family day and a lot of other things for my family to come and enjoy with my dad. It keeps us close to him and shows us what a wonderful place he lives at. From the time my dad went to live at Acadia Center we have had a positive and comfortable connection with the entire staff. My mother and my family are extremely grateful for Acadia Center and highly recommend it to anyone who may be looking for a place for their loved one to live.
Thank you Stan C.
I am writing this review for one of my patients. I work at Avalon Gardens and like to chat with my patients to see how they are doing, if they have any complaints or issues that need to be dealt with. When I spoke with Bill, he stated that he is very satisfied the way housekeeping is keeping his room clean. He said that his housekeeper Rogie was great and thanked me for asking him questions about his room's condition.

This place was so upsetting. My uncle was there for a brief time. The staff was rude and disrespectful to him. They would turn OFF his alarm when he pressed it and repeatedly told him they would come back and never did. This went on for hours and then days. They told him they didn't have any extra blankets or sheets when he was cold. I hope someone from BelleHaven has the courage to contact me when they see this review. I have more details I would like to share. And for the heartless staff who works there…I hope you one day realize what it means to depend on the compassion of others for your daily survival. I wonder how any of you can sleep at night. Silence in the presence of WRONGDOING is acceptance and agreement.
My husband was at this facility…everything about it was negative..care, especially physical therapy/lack of aids and nurses…I was so glad to get him out of the facility…very poor quality and very much attention they pay to environment design…who cares about that….these patients need assistant not decorating….I truly do not recommend you attend this facility
The facility is clean however, the administration is horrible. Do not sign anything for your loved ones. They do not communicate with the families and inform families of legal obligations. They are underhanded and will try to steal your money. It is horrible because your loved ones are struggling and ones emotions are high and the administration lie to families.
Momento is a prison…..this was the worst experience of my entire life.
My husband has been a resident of this nursing home since October of 2013. I brought him here because it was a very nice facilities plus very helpful administration, but started to change the beginning of last year. Administration becomes very passive with your complains. my husband had seizure several times but nobody calls me. Social worker are useless, they dont return phone calls. staff doesnt pay attention to the patients, they dont even know whats going on because even the call button is on, nobody cares to check. Just recently (Sept 6) i found my husband inside his room, having partial stroke and nobody does anything. They only call their doctor when i insisted them to send him to hospital. I wont recommend this nursing home.
My father stayed at this facity for about a month. During his stay we endured a great amount of nonsense from the staff. He became so dehyrdated that after he was discharged and brought home his oncologist admitted him to Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital for a week and a half. During one of my visits to see my dad, while he was in the nursing home, my father was complaining about not being able to go to the bathroom and how he was in extreme pain. When I went to the nurses desk to ask for help, I was told by one aide that she would "get to him later". His bathroom problem persisted for 3 weeks and they would refuse to give him his medicine. He would be in pain for atleast 9 hours until they finally gave him something. I made numerous complaints but was always told that my father was exaggerating. I want people to know what happened to him so they won't consider this facility for their loved one. My father was so sick after his stay here I thought he was dying. No one should have to go through that..
Staff not trained to care for spinal cord patients. The staff are unwilling to accommodate people who require bowel and bladder routines. Nursing staff only provide medications two times a day and there is only one nurse passing medications for the whole rehab unit. There is minimal equipment in therapy and staff are not properly supervised or trained to accommodate patients admitted to the unit. Please do not send your loved ones to this facility they have repeatedly demonstrated poor communication amongst the rehab team and the family of patients. Their goal is to use the maximum amount of medicare days while not assisting the patient in any way.
This place was so horrible that I had to take my dad out and put him somewhere else!
This place is HORRIBLE!
the staff is wonderful, the facility is immaculate, we appreciate everything they did for my mom during her visit..
ONE CNA to take care of 40 patients on the overnight shift? Thanks but I'll find employment elsewhere.
Again, don't be fooled by the 5 star rating. My husband was in 4 nursing homes, he was 67yrs old. This was the worst one he was in. After being ignored that he couldn't breathe and no one would come to check, after about an hour and making the nurse come to the room it was discovered that his oxygen machine was unplugged . Very, very poor care. Totally went down hill there.
The staff did not pay attention to the residents. The residents stay in their wheelchairs most of the time, with their legs dangling. My mom's feet were swollen two and a half times her shoe size when I brought her home. My mom was injured by staff members, and they tried to deny it. The supervisor did nothing about it. I would not recommend this facility.
This facility is worn down and feels grimy and dirty. They are renovating the lobby so I hope the rooms will be redone soon. Staff mostly inattentive and anytime I try to get an update on my uncle's care no one can help me. The social worker is vague. And certain reauests are not being provided. I hesitate to be more specific as my uncle is still here until we can get him into a better facility. Would never recommend this place to anyone. I'm going home to take a shower! Place makes my skin crawl.
Not good. Went to visit my family member on 2nd floor and could smell urine and awful smell from the nursing desk area. He had quite a bit of money stolen from him in a so-called "Lock Box" that he was given a key for. The money was never reimbursed, of course, and there was nothing he could do about it. He always complained about how the ringers constantly going off at night and no one coming to answer them. So what good are these alarms? It takes far too long to see a doctor. The social worker was terrible.
