Received wonderful rehab. Enjoyed the activities and food
Approximately 2 months ago my mother entered Friedwald with a severe shoulder fracture
From a bad fall, and a somewhat broken spirit. Today, thanks to the fine medical team, at the age of 85, she is back living in her apartment with a fully recovered shoulder and in excellent spirits. On behalf of my mother, I would like to express my gratitude and admiration for the high standards of professionalism and compassion demonstrated by everyone at Friedwald.
This is a wonderful, caring facility.
If you love your family you would never subject them to this terrible place. This is hell on earth!! My grandmother passed away due to their LACK OF CARE. She got septic because they didn't properly clean her and she got an infection in her blood. This was painful for my grandmother and an agonizing way to pass. This was hard on my entire family. They stole her wedding band and her gold cross, then they preyed on my grandfather who has dementia. They convinced him to pay a supposed outside company $10,000 to file paperwork to separate out his assets from my grandmother so they wouldn't be financially responsible for the medical costs incurred while she was staying at their AWFUL facility. Then when my grandmother passed they claimed the paperwork hadn't been filled and that my grandfather was responsible for a $32,000 bill! This story doesn't end here unfortunately but I hope this gets the point across.
If you have a loved one here, I urge you to take the time and find a better place for your loved one. A crooked establishment like this should not be in business and the empties of this establishment, week have threatened by grandfather should be jailed for their unlawful behavior!
As an organization listening to families that have patients in Friedwald we see a pattern of mis communication with families or no communication at all. Families have a hard time getting answers or getting their loved ones discharged when they feel is right.
My experience at Northern Metropolitan was nothing but exceptional. The staff here is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Service was wonderful, and the facility itself was well maintained and pleasant. All in all it was a great experience, and I will be going here again in the future.
this is the worst nursing home i have ever seen, the aides are so untrained that patients are constantly getting hurt…bed sores and fungi infections are rampant here at this home, and to get anything done to help the patient, the nursing's homes doctor dr silverson is so afraid to order medicine for the patients because it's going to cut into the upper managements profits. my mom had pneumonia there, first it took a fight to get them to take a chest x-ray, and then when the report said another chest xray was needed, it took them 4 weeks for them to do it again and this time it showed she had pneumonia…..all this time she was coughing real bad and bringing up phelm, and the refused to treat her….it took over 4 weeks for them finally to start giving her medicine….but by this time, she was almost dying….what the hell is wrong with this nursing home…..are they trying to kill all their patient by not getting meds to them on time. g-d help you if you are stuck here…..oh by the way….we took my mom home so she could at least live.
Horrible experience there. My mother had severe stroke iaugust, she was admitted at pine valley for rehab. Rehab good, nursing staff horrible, along with adminstration. My mother had another stroke in that few facility a month after she was admitted. The nursing staff overlooked, made some notes about hewer speech getting worse, and ignored me! I insisted she needed catscan and was told the doctor needed to approve and the nurse didn't even relay msg to dr (i visit at night because work 50 hours a week) the short of it their lack of communication left my mom having stroke for four days before they sent her to the hospital… Oh and it gets worse
They send her back week later from hospital, they didn't tell me she lost her
I would've moved her had I known. the facility left the catheder in for week.. My mom was shaking from tremors which got worse. Again told facility to keep watch it, they send her to hospital literally a week later. They didn't document the tremors, and only said she had altered state of mind. They were more worried about covering their asses if she was having a stroke. My mother was left alone in the hospital both times; she couldn't speak for herself yet they left her alone. I got there in time and they admitted her: hospital didn't note shaking either because it was random and getting worse. Short of it: it took hospital week to realize she had another severe uti that caused tremors…. This was third one that month, the nursing home tried treating twice, and the hospital when she had the stroke. they lost done of my moms clothes, and have been avoiding me for over month now. They also have some money of hers which they insisted they cut check, which haven't seen. I suggest caution if you go here
Short staffed nurses very rude not willing to help always leaving for lunch
Mom was there until she came home. Staff were great. Esspecially the aides. Paid much attention to her daily carer. You can see that they are all trying to improve.
I would not recommend this place for anyone who has to put their parent in for care. The staff is extremely shorthanded and there is not enough attention given to patients. I saw a patient who had fallen in their on the floor for over 15 minutes yelling for help. Patients roam the floors, walking into other peoples rooms, the odor is horrible and the food is the worst. The staff is not friendly except for one nurse who is overworked due to lack of staff. I saw another patient fall out of their wheelchair in the common dining room. It is horrible and dangerous.
I have to say despite the food being tasteless, the hallways and lobby had a really bad odor. The staff was not friendly by any means. I would not send my family member to this nursing home.
The facility was clean, the staff were friendly and always had a smile.
The therapy staff were exceptionally warm and really worked hard on me until I was able to go back home…fit again!
I would recommend this facility!
The staff was rude, My mom asked for a pitcher of water near her bed side and the staff refused to get her one. The rooms have an awful smell coming out of them
The Facility is disgusting, The Staff was really rude unhappy with the care provided
Horrible Place, the hallway smelled. I would never send my family member to such a facility. The staff were rude unhappy there. They need to improve the quality of care
Great Place! They treat very well.
PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR WORST ENEMY IN THE FACILITY. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN PLACE THEM. THEY WILL BE ABUSED AND GUARANTEED TO GET THE WORST HEALTH CARE AVAILABLE LEADING THEM ON A DIRECT PATH TO DEATH. THIS IS THE WORST FACILITY. I HAVE WITNESSED ELDER ABUSE, OVERDOSE OF DRUGS, AND THE STAFF HAS NO BUSINESS CARING FOR ANY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS FACILITY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My father was released from the hospital at Christmastime and couldn't go back to his apartment due to the level of care he still needed. He was sent to Nyack Manor where the staff lost his sneakers. On Christmas day the family went to visit him at the Manor where we found him laying naked on top of his bed. I reported it immediately to the floor supervisor and case management. There was no apology or admission of guilt for the conduct. A year later, they sent a bill regarding a past due amount. After numerous phone calls we determined that a bill that should have been sent to major medical never got sent and now that the time-limit has closed for submittal they expect us to pay it, regardless that we've showed them it was clearly their fault. Make sure you have ALL paperwork and hire a good attorney, because you will need it.
Actually a ZERO rating. Here's what my mother has experienced: urinary tract infections; physical abuse (an aid pulled her hair and shook her by the neck); left sitting in her own pee and feces for a whole day on numerous occasions; they put her call button where she can't reach it; even though she is supposed to be lifted into bed with a hoyer, they lift her by hand, digging their nails in her and causing her pain. The list goes on. If you see ratings above two stars, THEY ARE A LIE. The ratings are probably submitted by the staff/owners themselves.
My Grandmother is a patient there and after a partial stroke on July 2nd, is now not mobile, she is 99 years old. She can only move her hand and barely open one eye. The social worker still has not order a hospice for her, going on day 9 of being bed ridden. My mother goes there every day and has been calling the doctor, the social worker said she called for hospice assistance, but no record of her call can be found. The doctor and social worker are severely lacking in their abilities at this facility.
My mom was at this facility for 6 weeks. the staff were very kind and offered their assistance whenever possible. i did hear from other residents that they too were very happy with the care as we were.
Terrible nurses and nurse aids. Don't speak english, neglect patients that need them desperately, take advantage of people that can't defend themselves. Chicken often comes pink and they do nothing about it, don't take care of hygiene properly -resulting in two separate serious infections in my mom. Avoid at all costs.
