Review of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at River Valley

I unfortunately had to place my mother in River Valley Nursing Home a few months ago due to a long illness and am very suprised about the negative reviews. RV is not in the best of neighborhoods, BUT, the location is great as far as driving there. Lots of parking in a gated lot, very easy to get in and out. The building is a large 5 story brick structure that is in good condition. The front desk has always been manned, the security has always been polite. The 5th floor, where my mom is residing is spotless, the rec room, the lunch room and her room are all great. I have been there during lunches and dinners and the variety and quality of the food is good. Every time I have had to go the nurses station, I have always been treated with respect and compassion. The head nurse (Bill) who is in charge of my floor is excellent. He strikes me as the type of nurse who really cares, and his staff are the same. The aide who is assigned to my mother checks on her every 15-20 minutes. I couldnt be happier to have them care for my mother. The intake at RV was a good experience, I rec a ton of paperwork on patient rights etc. I have dealt with another nursing home prior to this one, and let me tell you. This place is great. I only gave it a 4 star because of the neighborhood.
