Review of Dry Harbor Nursing Home

1 Star User Review

On 1/30/13 My grandmotherwas transferred to Dry harbor Nursing home from NYU hospital after having a surgery to repair a large hernia. She was admitted into Dry harbor with her incision still sutured. Her surgeon has scheduled her for follow visit on 2/8/13 to assess her incision site for progress and had planned to remove her sutures sometime at the end of February. On 2/1/13, My mother had stepped away from my grandmothers side while visiting her, to retrieve money from the atm and when she returned she discovered that someone had removed her sutures. This was AGAINST her surgeons instructions and by doing so, they placed her at risk of infection and possibly bleeding to death as she is on blood thinners. When my mother asked the Head nurse on Duty who removed the sutures and we were told " I don't know who removed the sutures" THE NURSING FACILITY REFUSED TO RELEASE THE NAME OF THE "DOCTOR" who did this until finally hours later and the doctors name was told us. WE ARE EXTREMELY UPSET AT THIS INCIDENT AS THEY HAVE PLACED OUR MOTHER/GRANDMOTHER IN EXTREME DANGER AND BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE TAMPERING WITH RECORDS AND WITHOLDING NAMES AND NOT COOPERATING WITH US OR TAKING FULL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR NEGLECT. WE SAW MANY GOOD REVIEWS ON THIS FACILITY AND EVEN ASKED PATIENTS..UNFORTUNATELY, EVEN WITH GOOD REVIEWS WE WERE FOOLED! THIS PLACE DOES HAVE SOME A FEW GOOD NURSES AIDES HOWEVER THE MANAGEMENT IS DISGUSTING! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.. STAY AWAY! AND I'M ONLY GIVING 1 STAR BECAUSE I CAN'T GIVE 0 STARS
