Review of Beach Terrace Care Center

2 Star User Review

Cannot comprehend how this place got 5 stars, nor how-supposedly-the same group of people own Beach Terrace and Grandell-the latter being almost like a hotel. Our dad was on the second floor a few days and the whole place smelled like urine. The staff was lacking-only one nurse per station and most of the times no one answered the phones. Our dad (88 yrs old with dementia) was cut twice when they shaved him, once on his chin and the second time, when my brother and I came to visit him, he was sitting in the chair with dried blood on the side of his mouth. NOT ACCEPTABLE. We came to see my dad on last Tuesday @9:15 and he was shaking in the bed with no blanket and with his pajamas and sheets all messed up. He was supposed to be put in the chair and fed breakfast. Nobody bothered. They left him there and he was scared.

Last Saturday we asked to have him put in the chair for dinner (he was sleeping all day and went to bed @ 4 pm after we got him back to the room from the patio). The nurse in charge refused saying he needed 2 people to lift him (AND?) they only had 2 people at each end of the wings. So they left him bed. Isn't that the aides' job? Not acceptable.

Lastly, the PT people, Karen and Heddy are very good.

We were lucky to get him moved across the street-big improvement!
