This is a better place for providing services..
Brooklyn Gardens is a beautiful facility. The best part of this nursing home is the rehabilitation program and the recreational department. Anthony does a wonderful job providing fun activities for the patients. Other than that the nursing staff is horrible. The patients are mistreated, yelled at, and the CNA care is very poor. My heart goes out to the patients who have to live there.
Had the pleasure of working with some of the staff in this facility, very caring and dedicated professionals from my experience. I'd recommend anyone to tour at this location.
Remove your family asap! they are in deadly harm.
My husband was admitted there after a very bad experience at another Rehab Center. From day one to the completion of his Rehab, the Chateau treatment was wonderful, beginning with the Receptionist, the Concierge and Nurses. They kept every promise made, overseeing his diet, physical therapy and medication. We are satisfied, and would Highly Recommend it to other families.
This place is a death trap and needs to be shut down immediately. They killed my relative who had a stage four bedroom sore from their negligence. They are just collecting money. These money grubbing demons I hope everyone suffers the same fate or worse. If you have a relative here check on them get them out. If you see something wrong please report

The website is very misleading and portrays a very attractive facility. In fact currently it is under construction with no outside access of places to sit for the residents. Although the patients are kept clean, there is a lot of dirt and grime to be noted, Much of the equipment seems out dated and very worn. Individual needs of residents may not be met due to faulty equipment such as improper fitting wheelchairs. Care varies greatly. For the elder population, one would hope for more engagement and
better observation of health issues.Rating this with a star system is difficult as I do not have experience to compare it with other places. Although I have seen many competent staff, have been shocked overall and it is hard to know if what I am seeing is the 'norm'.
Dangerously understaffed in the evenings and on weekends. Beware.
If you're thinking of placing a loved one here…don't. My mother lived here for 4 months before passing away. Compassion and dignity are qualities that are extremely rare, mostly non-existent in this place. i found most of the aides to be rude, attitudinal, and incompetent. Some of the nurses are fine, but I found myself constantly arguing with the staff over the care, or lack of care that my mom received. They refused to bring her to the bathroom after their head physical therapist said she couldn't stand and was "dead weight". I showed them that she was able to stand, it didn't matter…it was easier to just clean her when necessary. The social workers didn't return calls and I was only able to get the staff's attention after complaining to the director. Stay away!!
This facility leaves a lot to be desired. Much of the staff in particular on the 6th floor should not be allowed to work with the elderly . They are nothing short of rude and incompetent.. There is no accountability and as a result they get away with doing the minimal work even if that means ignoring a patients needs.
No dedication to the patients by the staff, does not observe patients medical needs, Doctor on staff need improvement in the decisions he makes about patients medical decisions when they are in distress.
Hopkins has been a blessing for our family. We looked all over this area at rehab places for our mother. Hopkins was recommended to me by a client of mine who had one of their parents who had been a resident in the past. I have been amazed at how clean and fresh it smells every time.
It is a misnomer to call this place a "rehab" or to associate it with health "care" of any kind. Very bad personal experience during a three week stay.
Poor C.N.A. staffing. Poor comunication between social work department. Personal items lifted from resident's room: Denial of replacement, on techecalities. Response from Nurse Supervisors, very poor. Response to complaints from residence, very poor. Linen used for residents care, sometimes stained with blood, fiscies, torn with wholes. Menu from kitchen, very, very, poor [ limited boring choices, week after week, after week, especially so for observant vegeterians]. Many on staff do not wear picture identifications, therefore patients do not know who they are dealing with. Highest rateing for The Brooklyn Gardens Nursing Home And Rehabilitation fascilitie, has been two stars or less, on a consistant basisis over the last several years. Wonderfull employees have left over the years because of mismanagement. There is a very high turn over rate of employees. Garbage bags, toilet tissue, sanitary plastic gloves, fall apart and are made of "CHEAPEST" materials. Nursing homes all across the nation are notoriously known to be negligent of residents in their care. This is but one example mediocre service.
One star is one star too many for this facility. My computer won't allow zero stars to be processed. The staff needs to be completely retrained in the nursing and nurses aides programs. The neglect and unprofessionalism is disgusting. This place should be under strict scrutiny and be completely re-staffed with caring professionals that know how to do their job! In reference to L. Garcia. Thankfully he became so much more sick in there whenhe entered, he had to go to the hospital. He was saved. Imagine that!!!!!!!
DO NOT put anyone you care about in this facility. I lost my Dad to poor care, i.e., dehydration, bed sores and skin ulcers, two falls from his bed and one from his wheelchair. The staff is NOT the best trained and their lack of care shows. They are highly argumentative and vindictive. The head Doctor REFUSED to meet with me and I never saw her face, Dr. Brown. Strangely and almost immediately after my Dad passed in the Brooklyn Hospital, she was FIRED. The Social Workers are just that…social and NOT professional and yes, they make drug prescription referrals for patients…did for my Dad as the Doctor told me so. I have retained legal counsel and currently pursuing a wrongful death action against this facility. BE WARNED.
Based on the website presentation, one would be persuaded to send their love ones to a facility of this quality. But don't be fooled, it was a mistake for our family to have chosen this center. The standard of care is of poor quality. They are negligible and unaccountable in any unfortunate situation that has arisen since our family was brought to this facility. The CNA's are constantly falsifying notes in the patient record. Some of the staff including Nurses and CNA's are unprofessional and disrespectful. They leave the patients in urine soaked pampers for several hours. They do not take care of the patients promptly. This facility has the potential to be an asset to this community; however, for this change to take place, I recommend that changes must start from the top down.
This place was horrific. They should be closed down like many other places. If your family is unable to fend for themselves I am asking u to think twice about placing them their. The doctor n the nurses were complete idiots. My mom was transferred there from Wyckoff Hospital and while there only two days my mother caught a bad infection. She had a fever and was not able to swallow. My niece went to see and acknowledge the nurse stuffing food and medication into her mouth. My niece stated she didn't swallow that and the nurse on top of that continued to stuff her mouth with her already full mouth. The doctor witness this action and said nothing. My niece got up n told them why do u keep stuffing her mouth? The doctor stated her vitals were fine. My niece took the food n medication out of her mouth where my mother then threw up. The doctor n nurse stood by and didn't move a finger to help. We called the ambulance took her to NYU where she was diagnosed with a fever and a UTI infection. It was horrifying to know that these people where treating my mother in such an inhumane manner. I have nightmares thinking how she was feeling and not able to defend herself. She never went back there and now I make sure that I fight with these annoying social workers at the hospitals who annoy and harass you at every moment they have a chance to get rid of your sibling out if their hospital. Don't settle for less. Every family needs better care and be treated with dignity not a savage. My next step is Bellevue Hospice. They will be monitored by me and the second I see something I don't like she's out of there to. I want to take her home but they're giving me a hard time. Fight for your family this is when they need you the most. NYU social workers made me cringe every time they called or came to see me at my mother's room. I want my mother to be in peace not harassed. Is that too much to ask for
had a very good experience with my family member very knowledgeable staff especially the doctors very good communication with the hospital in terms of carrying out orders post discharge
Beyond the fact that the facility is clean, the service is terrible. The nursing staff does not pay attention to the patients. My elderly dementia suffering father was able to roam around at all hours of the night when they were confused. Made it all the way to the lobby without 1 nurse noticing. They ignored alarms. They prescribed medication without notifying any of us in the family. They were supposed to provide 1 hour of physical therapy a day they would only do 10-20. They never provided the speech therapy they were supposed to. I would not recommend this place at all. They did nothing for my father. He made no progress in this place. Do your parent a favor don't send them here. They do not provide any good service and most nurses don't speak English.
I honestly wish I could give them a negative star. If you want you family memeber to die due to bed sores and treated like trash this is the place for thrm. The cnas can't give you the care you need because of low staffing to save money. So they run around like chickens with no heads. The lobs and rns don't help because they leave it for the cnas … So much money coming in and nothing is going towards the residents and cna works… Just the people sitting pretty at their desk
no complaint on the pt and ot they are good. the location is only good if you have a car. Subway do go there if mta do not shut it down for construction or track repair. You must have Medicaid to be in this place. If you do not they nag to you sign up to apply. They refuse to have patience to let the insurance company to give them a chance to process the claim and allow patient to get bill pay report from their insurance. The rule is you must get the insurance statement showing the final decision before you take over. You can tell them no I don't qualify for or I don't want Medicaid they will continue to push you to sign off for them to apply it for you. expect this to happen. insurance company and usps is the boss in handling the bill pay process not the rehab company or the patient.
they don't seem to want to understand this…..all who are not under Medicaid and use this rehab center must be aware of this.
All nursing homes are bad, but this is the worst I have ever seen. And it is dangerous, very dangerous. They can take your family member away from you with fake health proxies and fake powers of attorney. (Read the reviews in this site and other sites.) In my case, I wanted to transfer my uncle to another nursing home, for which I needed the social worker to prep and send his medical record, but she refused. Saying that he was COMPETENT; CAPABLE; FULLY COGNITIVE, AND CAPABLE OF MAKING HIS OWN DECISIONS. THAT HE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE AND THEY HAD TO HONOR HIS WISHES.
However, my uncle has dementia and of course, he is not any of those things, and I have a power of attorney for him.
I went, pick him up, and had to go thru one of the worst experiences of my life, and they reported me to Adult Protective Service, WHICH SIDED WITH THEM!!!
Low staff not much cnas to help so their running around like chickens with no heads. Nurses are rude and aggressive omg care about their paper work. overall just care about their money not the care
