Review of Momentum at South Bay for Rehab and Nursing

1 Star User Review

No stars. A horrendous place. The administrator and director of nursing are heartless, inhuman, liars, people with absolutely no integrity. The Nursing director is new and from day one she made it clear that my mothers care was secondary to the facility's bottom line. They were out of compliance with so many state regulations it is astounding the state hasnt shut them down. If there truly is such a thing as Karma, they will both end up in a facility under the authority of people just like them.

unfortunately your experience is far too common in nursing homes in New York and the reason the Department of Health does not shut them down is because they themselves are overwhelmed, understaffed, underpaid, and in many instances protecting the "status quo."

If the DOH used a fifth of its power to inspect and regulate the problem would be halfway solved. There is so much neglect, that neglect has become the standard of care. The nursing home residents' rights act of 1987 was passed to correct this.

But New York is a failing state on many levels regarding the care provided to its seniors.
