Review of Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

1 Star User Review

Rehab unit not the place for frail patients. Call for toilet took 20 minutes +, blood pressure monitior held together by nurse's hand, dietary concerns left up to the patient - hot dogs, baloney sandwiches, bacon and corned beef hash offered. Staffling levels too low for prompt/attentive care. Requests for medication (pain pills) must be made repeatedly. Medication set out at communal dining table prior to arrival of patient. If I didn't spent 10 - 12 hours with family member each day, I hate to think of the lack of care offered. Look elsewhere.

Ditto…You're absolutely right, and so much more, saw/heard more than one would want to see or hear yet on another unit.

Family member in room (dementia wing) approx. 7 pm in chair with no safety restraint, pushed up to and facing dresser, radio blaring static, urine soaked , screaming "help me", "my chest hurts", extremely upset.

Asked staff member who, when and why, reply was… "I did", "after dinner", "it's customary when loud".

not the first of this kind of ??? care witnessed.

"Help me", by resident is out of boredom, or need of changing, drink, ect. (resident does not walk, always in her chair (for a stretch was 24/7) unknown if they are back to that. Following yet another incident walked in on days later, kindly asked one in "head of", can you please put a safety belt on and don't leave alone in room. I said this is punishment because "loud" as was told previously "customary" by staff member, and not safe.

I was then told, I don't like that word punishment, are we done, do you need to be let out? (after 8pm when you need to ask to be let out). Called state hotline (again), NOW, told supervised family visits only in center room, as we were in sun room for another visit, while staff removed family member away from our visit.

Just another "unhappy" for the resident that can't be with family to enjoy quiet conversation or looking out windows ,done to devert boredom in an area we thought was for that reason.

Please, if you are looking for a place for you're loved one , look elseware, I have lost all trust and respect for this home ( It did not appear to be this way in the beginning (a year ago).
