My mom was there for 5 days to try to rehab before hip replacement surgery. As soon as she arrived there we knew it was a mistake. The place is filthy and old. The staff were rude at times and when we needed something, no one was available. We constantly had to hunt down a nurse to get her meds. She hadn't eaten in the 6 days that she was there and no one was concerned about it until I complained that she's wasting away. No IV was administered, we were told they don't do that there, yet the day I complained to the nurse practioner, she said yes they do IV's there. So why hadn't they done it when they saw she wasn't eating. Got the runaround from the social worker as well as the nurses. Everyone had a different story when we asked something. She was left in a wet diaper on numerous occasions and not given her meds when she needed them. I can go on and on. I'm so disappointed in the care my mom received. Today she got transferred out to a hospital, coincidentally a day after I complained. We heard the news from the PT guy, not the nursing staff or the social worker. He said they had a meeting and it was decided she needed to be on an IV. We were not asked to be at the meeting and who is he to tell us this news. On another occasion, the same PT guy said my mom was only going to be there for a few more days. I hope my mom makes it because the care that she received there was the worst. Do not send anyone there ever. If I could give it zero stars I would.

    Zero stars.

If you want to know what happens when a century old non-profit nursing home gets swallowed by a for profit company look no further than the former Field Home now known as Yorktown Rehabilitation & Nursing.

Yes Capitalism offers efficiency. And this efficiency of capitalism is often derived though the result of greed. Less workers, cheaper ingredient etc, all in the name of meeting or exceeding Return on Equity projections. If you're an investor, I think you would be happy with your investment in Yorktown Rehabilitation, if you're a patient there, well that's another story.

If you are seeking care in your retirement or after an accident, imagine spending your days and nights in a place where the SOLE concern of the management is providing its residents with the bare minimum standards mandated by the state. Minimum standards. Remember that. They only care about money. That goes from the food served to the residents to the new (and old) employees who were willing to work for less.

Don't believe me. Ask some longer term residents if your are even considering living there. The management and ownership are some of the greediest people I've ever met. And I've met some greedy people in my life.

Rehab was great. PT was very good. Fails at intermediate care because there is none. Patients who require total care may receive decent care but if you are someone who requires help ambulating, dressing, etc. you are out of luck. Our mother was left behind in the dining room 3 times because they "forgot" to go back to help her after they wheeled the other patients to their rooms. Also, when she moved into her room upstairs it was filthy - cobwebs and bugs in the bathroom. The floor had not been stripped and cleaned in ages. Also, when her roommate coded they left our mother in the room during the resuscitation. She was traumatized by that. There were many more things but the bottom line is she will never go back there

My husband was there for three weeks after a hospitalization and his condition deteriorated both mentally and physically while in their care. He was left in front of the nurses' station to sit and look at the floor with other poor souls for hours on end. I would immediately take him away when I arrived and talk to him and try to get him to react. The food was very substandard and he lost a lot of weight.

The rehab staff were very nice but the man in charge was rude and dismissive.

Do NOT send a loved one there!

My mother is there now and is receiving very sub-par care. She endured a fracture and is non-weight bearing on on of her legs and can't go home because of all the stairs. They only shower her 2x a week! She is begging to be showered. They left her waiting on the toilet for over 30 minutes and then she got up and fell and they blamed her and chastised her for trying to do it on her own when she is supposed to wait for someone. I'm sorry but would you keep waiting and waiting after that long? They told her to wear a diaper to absorb sweat! How about change her freeking underwear for her 2x a day and she'll be fine. She hasn't been showered in 5 days and has now gotten a yeast infection and has skin rashes because she is a heavy menopausal woman who sweats almost all the time. The communication with the team there also hasn't been good. I was cut off mid-sentence by the lead nurse on my very first phone call there. It's not like I've been calling them with complaints, I've just had it at this point. My mother said someone (a PT an OT someone) would be calling me last week and they haven't called. I don't want to give away my identity but I am also a medical professional with a doctorate level degree and know this is not a high standard of care. Don't go there.
