I am going to repost another review… their view is the same as mine, all about the money.
This place may have great nurses -- but they are far and few between. The social workers only care about the money --- they don't care about the residents. My parent went in as short term -- now has been changed to long term. Even the physician was surprised by this change. It's all about the money. SO SAD!
My parent fell out of bed and they blamed the minimum wage CNA for the fall… what about the RN and those in higher places, are they not to blame? Last note… still waiting for replacement glasses that were lost in February 2011.
My parent had a feeding tube… although they could eat, but it was much more convenient to just hook up a bag and go on another patient. The nutritionist was surprised when I asked why the tube was still being used if my parent could eat.
This place smells as soon as you walk into the building, smells like old wet carpet. They did clean it one day when I was there… but little good that did.
Check out the corners in the rooms, the bathrooms, the vents… all are nasty. When my parent first wnet there for short term it was on the first floor, So different than the other floors, cleaner (although still not as clean as it should be) and more spacious. Televisions in all the rooms. The upper floors are nasty, smelly and furnished like a bad motel. Dressers are missing knobs and handles (circa 1960), stained and dirty, closets don't stay closed, bathrooms are disgusting (although my parent or her roommate couldn't use the bathroom).
My parent was in a room with a patient who slept on two mattresses on the floor.. when we would visit we could have to step around the other patient.
NY needs to really look at these places… and it shouldn't be the same person doing all the inspections. After seeing this place you will understand my concern that this place actually passed a state inspection. Shame on you NY Health Inspectors.. and anyone else involved in allowing facilities like this to stay in business.
