Review of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Chittenango

1 Star User Review

The focus at the Chittenango Center is on squeezing out every dime of profit for the corporation that owns it. Resident care is a much lower priority. There are too few aides available to assist residents, so there's a long wait time for help when it's needed, and the aides are typically in a big hurry to finish up and move on. Equipment and furishings are old and worn, and supplies too often run out, and are slow to be replenished. The care staff seems to want to be helpful, but often can't be; some are poorly trained, and often they're without the equipment and supplies they need. The physical therapy department takes a "one size fits all" approach, not taking enough time to understand and accommodate individual pateints' requirements. so they are not as effective as they should be. Food service is poor; meals are typically bland and tasteless. Remodeling is underway (early in 2014), but the new paint won't do much to improve the conditions at the Chittenango Center. If you put lipstick on a pig, it may look prettier, but it's still a pig. Look elsewhere for nursing or rehab care.
