Review of Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing

1 Star User Review

I was very disappointed in the care my relative received at Riverside Nursing Home.

While she was there I noticed that the care was minimal care from the staff, although not all, most direct care staff were disengaged with their patients. So many times I observed long periods of no care or bells ringing and not being answered for long periods of time. I observed lack of toileting and changing patients. I witnessed this first hand with being in my relatives room( outside of dropping off feeding tray for meals, no one came to see if she could eat it or reach it or toilet her for 5 to 6 hours. On average an aid came in two times per shift. My family ended up staying with our relative out of concern with the lack of care. My relative ended on comfort care which did not give her any comfort, in fact it caused even more discomfort.. It was a delay in getting hospice which my relative was clearly ready for and the nursing staff refused to recognize.

I feel the cause of all of this is that the aids in the facility do exactly what they want and their is not much overseeing by the nursing staff. They rule out of fear their quota of staff to patient ratio will not be filled. I realize that the work load is heavy but signing documents that the work was done and it was not is illegal. Letting patients refuse care under the guise of patient rights is down right lazy when some one can not distinguish that they need care. I don't know how this facility stays open.

To be fair, the food and housekeeping, I feel, was good

I will never let another relative go there.

I feel that end care of all Riverside residents deserve better
