Review of Buena Vida Continuing Care & Rehab Center

3 Star User Review

This place has got to be the worst facility ever….

The staff is completely unprofessional all around. They all meet in the hallways to gossip and talk about their weekend plans while you can hear patients screaming in the halls. here are no handheld call buttons in the room you would have to stand up out of bed to push the one on the wall. They dont have individual speakers so every announcement is heard in every room. They dont have beds with guardrails to prevent falls. None of the antibacterial foam dispensers in the halls had anything in them. The bathrooms are filthy and they have no toilet paper in them. The rooms themselves have dust/dirt buildup on all of the wall moldings. The windows had white splatter marks all over them. The shades didnt work to block out the sunlight. The furniture is dingy with the wood surfaces all scratched up. The recliner in the room was broken and would only stay in the open position. There are no garbage pails in the rooms nor the bathrooms. There were no extra blankets, sheets pillows etc… They had no tissues to offer the visitors. Nobody came in and checked on my family member while being there for 1 night her oxygen tank ran out. Thank god we have an EMT friend who noticed that there was nothing comming out and ran to the nurses station to get another. Reconsider sending a loved one here unless you have medical background and are prepared to bring your own soap, blankets, sheets, tissues, toiletpaper etc…

I have to agree with the reply criticism of this review. This review makes no sense at all. Interestingly, my father (87 at the time) was there at the same time of this review (Oct. 2012). I didn't notice any of the above at all and my father was there for 2-3 weeks undergoing sub-acute rehab for a stroke he had that August. Place seemed very clean to me.

Nursing homes can be tough to deal with sometimes, b/c people with unfortunate degrading mental capacity are there and sometimes calling out and screaming for no apparent reason. Other residents will be in the hallways in their wheelchairs doing nothing and looking rather depressed. I'm always struck with a sad feeling whenever I go to any nursing home, but I can say that this one deserved it's high ratings from Medicare. My father is currently at another nursing home for rehab and cancer care, but I'm considering transferring him back to Buena Vida.

Honestly I wish you could experience what a real horror at a nursing home is like; you have no actual realistic complaints.. was your mother required to have 02 continuously did the nurse check her sat 02 level --did you ask your emt friend that? Was your relative dry and being taken care of …. in regard to toiletries --the center is not a hotel they sometimes have to restock things that are constantly being used-- I am sure when you give complaints about the worst facility ever you should read other reviews about horrible bed sores or falls … Be more appropriate next time and ask your EMT friend about some real stories… and ask yourself was my relative better when they left ?
