Couldn't find a smile among 90% of the staff. Consistently short staffed. Staff would not help relative change to pajamas consistently (slept in food stained day clothes). Tools (wrist BP meters, thermometer, blood glucose meter) used were outdated or dysfunctional. Some staff were mean when handling minimally ambulatory patients. I arrived at 10PM once and there were no night staff in sight (including at nursing desk which was manned by a patient in her wheelchair). Tenants were sitting in lobby in their wheelchairs. Facility smelled horribly of urine. Another night I arrived at 10PM and found all the pt call lights on in a certain hallway and staff was busy chatting and laughing at nursing desk area. Specifically told by administrative person the wait time for response to calls from pt for assistance was less than 5 minutes, not so! I witnessed it taking 40 minutes at night. The experience has jaded my view of nursing homes forever.
