The Homestead Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center is a facility poised for growth and is steadily implementing an expansion of services that improve the delivery of health care for residents and patients. The 102 bed facility accepts medicare and medicaid in addition to private pay, most major insurances and workman's comp. The facility is unique in that there is a physician in attendance every day and the doctor performs weekly rotations. The team of docs hail from the same practice making for a smooth transition of patient care when rotations shift. The Homestead is about to add another new piece to their expanding services; Patients scheduled for orthopedic surgery can now also arrange their follow up therapy in advance. The Homestead is the only facility which will insure a bed is available on the scheduled discharge date. If complications arise which delay discharge, the Homestead will prioritize admittance and work with the patient and family to make admittance as smooth and easy as possible. These two recently introduced programs, Premier Care and Pre Admission, are steps ahead of other facilities and are part of the overall vision of the Homestead RHCC, "redefining the delivery of health care" in the Sussex County community.

The facility is well staffed. The campus is beautiful (more than 14 acres of ponds, gardens and natural beauty), compassionate and effective therapy and nursing teams complimenting a hands on physician driven approach to recovery. The Homestead Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center anticipates some major changes to the facility in the near future. The design changes will compliment the excellent medical care offered and the family-like culture which is part of the heritage of this Sussex County facility.

Could not tell what the food was that I had to endure even after tasting was like cardboard, most of the time milk was sour and food was cold. If I rang my call bell to often it was taken away from me so I could not reach it. Medication not given in a timely manner. The more you complained the more you were ignored. Not my ideal location to stay for rehab, begged my son to take me home with him and his wife took care of me rather than pay so much at this 'anything but a nursing and rehabilitation center'. Would highly recommend to anyone considering going there to find a different location.

The place is "ok", they cram them in 3 to a tiny room if Medicare is footing the enitre bill, even if your spending down your own money at a cost of $9000 a month to stay there your cramed into the same tiny room meant for 2. Forgetting about calling on the phone there to ask to speak with a resident, your transfered all over, no one there has time to look for the person you want to speak to, it's terrible. I know it's not the staff's fault, like any other health care facility they are running short staffed, doing the work of two people and lucky enough to have a job. I've seen MUCH, MUCH worse places & some better places, so I know the difference.

This is a human warehouse! They don't seem to care if the able bodied patients get TO TAKE showers! They are comfortable with giving sponge baths! Forget about hair!. I'm surprised they have not shaved the residents head to make it easier on themselves! Employees do not do the jobs! As long as the medicare/medicaid checks keep rolling in, to HELL with the patients! Even hotels change to sheets! Here, it seems my relative has to change the bedding! If you have ANY love or concern for your loved one, please do not put them here! IT IS HELL HOLE!!!!!

Staff is friendly, helpful and caring. They are a bit under-staffed right now, but this facility is far better than the one my Mother was previously in. This was the first nursing home that I did NOT notice any odor whatsoever, very clean. Could be spruced up a bit nicer, but that is a minor…it's more important that the nursing care is high quality.
